  • Multiplier onion or Aggregatum onion (Allium cepa var. aggregatum) is one of the important bulbous vegetable cultivated in India. Onion is mainly propagated through bulbs and approximately 1000 kg of bulb is required for planting in one hectare of area. Huge quantities of onion bulbs are wasted for propagation purpose. By switching over from bulb propagation method to seed, there is a saving of seed bulb to a tune of 1000 kg/ha. As Aggregatum onion is being cultivated in 30,000 hectares in Tamil Nadu, a saving of 30,000 tonnes bulbs could be obtained.

  • In this present work, the applicability of BTTT to mustard oils obtained from different parts of India and thereby to examine and investigate the influence of geographical variations on BTTT. In the present study, different brands of mustard oils used for analysis, such as mustard oil (Mu, Suraj), Kacchi ghani mustard oil (Kgmu, Mashal) Kacchi ghani mustard oil (Kgmu1, Nature fresh), Kacchi ghani mustard oil (Kgmu2, Engine) and Kacchi ghani mustard oil (Kgmu3, Saloni) exhibited BTT in the range of 26.8 to 27.5S0C. The result have demonstrated the reproducibility through the analyzed data.

  • Groundnut (Arachis hypogea L.,) is one of the world’s important crops, ranking fifth in oil production. Groundnut seed is a rich food source providing quality vegetable oil (48%-50%), protein (26%-28%), dietary fibre, minerals and vitamins. Total world production of Groundnut was 47 million tonnes from 27 million hectares. In Andhra Pradesh Groundnut is cultivated in 7.35 lakh hectares with 10.43 lakh tonnes production and 1426 kg/ha productivity. The Groundnut area of YSR district is decreasing and same trend reflected in production and productivity also.
