This study was carried out in Mediterranean climate and under rainfed conditions in Turkey for a period of three years throughout the growing seasons of 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017. It was conducted in a randomized complete block experimental design (RCBD) with three replications. In present study, genetic diversity for agro-morphological characters and macro/microelements were investigated in sixteen promising local faba bean genotypes originated from Turkey. According to the results of the study, mean grain yield varied from 2320 kg ha–1 (Tekirdağ-39) to 3130 kg ha–1 (Burdur-50).

The present investigation was undertaken to find out interrelationships among different traits and their direct and indirect contribution towards seed yield. Seed yield per plant showed significant positive correlation with pods per plant, pod length, seeds per pod, branches per plant, seed size and pod yield per plant at both phenotypic and genotypic levels while with nodes per plant, plant height, 100-seed weight and harvest index at genotypic level only.

Eighteen germplasm lines with two check varieties of Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) assessed to work out the genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance on different seed yield traits and divergence analysis of their various attributes on seed yield. The observations were recorded on eleven quantitative characters namely days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height (cm), number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pods, 100-seed weight (g), biological yield per plant (g), protein content (%), harvest index (%) and seed yield per plant (g).

Five faba bean genotypes (Vicia faba L.) were selfed for two cycles to produce S1 and S2 generations. A half-diallel cross was carried out among them in each level of inbreeding (S0, S1 and S2) to obtain 10 F1 hybrids. Cytomixis was recorded during microsporogenesis in broad bean (Vicia faba L.), a member of the family Fabaceae. It is an important pulse crop used as vegetable, silage, forage and stock feed. The effect of diethyl sulphate (DES) and sodium azide (SA) was studied on the meiotic behaviour of Vicia faba L. var. major in the M1 generation.
