This article explores the lexico-semantic network through a brief examination of the English preposition "in" and its equivalent "trong" in Vietnamese. Working within a cognitive linguistic framework, the investigation presents the six clusters of senses of the preposition "in" based on Tyler and Evans’ research, thereby, via the contrastive analysis approach, indicating the similarities and differences in the way speakers of the two languages conceptualize the world via their spatial configuration.

The study "A genre analysis of abstracts of MA theses in English Linguistics" explores to what extent the Vietnamese learners of English as a foreign language (EFL) apply the knowledge that they have formally learned in the Writing and the Doing scientific research courses to writing their MA graduation theses; the focus is on the abstract. The study aims to explore the learning experiences of Vietnamese master students in the field of engineering at a Taiwan university to offer a well-known perception of learning experiences for Vietnamese prospective engineering students who look for foreign degrees in non-English-speaking Asian countries like Taiwan. Interviews with 14 master students were undertaken. The findings reveal that the Vietnamese students experience with 3 types of language-related problems in Taiwan: English language proficiency, lack of English medium of instruction from the host, and Chinese language issues.

Phrasal verbs are highly common in and typical of the English language. However, ESL/EFL students in different contexts seem to avoid using them in their academic writing, especially in English applied linguistics. In the project to discover the difficulties facing Vietnamese learners of English and the solution, being the Special Issue in the International Journal of Language and Linguistics, numbered 501024, reading comprehension is one of the difficulties to be discovered facing Vietnam learners, for which the solution discussed in this paper was analyzed to complete the project for the Special Issue 501024.
