In paper "p-adaptive meshing for triangular nodal finite elements meshes", we present p-adaptive meshing algorithms (p-refinement and unrefinement) for triangular finite element meshes. The algorithms are designed to keep the computation cost low, and the neighboring elements are not too different in degree. In addition, we can prove that if we start with an admissible mesh, then each element can be refined at most once using the proposed algorithms. This is important because after a p-refinement there is no way to estimate its error without resolving the whole problem.

In this study, we focused on screening and simulating the interaction between antiinflammatory proteins and 50 compounds isolated from Millettia dielsiana Harms ex Diels. 39 out of 50 compounds that violated no of Lipinski’s rule of five were sorted out as favorable for drug development and selected for studies further.

Intersubband optical absorption spectrum was studied in quantum well structures in quantizing magnetic field tilted with respect to the structure layers. Violation of the selection rule forbidding optical intersubband transitions in structures made of quantum wells with an asymmetric potential is proposed. The importance of asymmetric structure design to achieve considerable values of optical absorption is demonstrated.

This paper employs the regime-switching model-based fiscal sustainability test of Aldama and Creel (2017, 2018) which extends Bohn’s (1998) fiscal reaction function approach. There is evidence of a regime-switching fiscal rule in Sri Lanka for the period 1961-2017. Nonsustainable fiscal regime is identified only in two periods - 1978-1983 and 1986-1990 - while the other periods are defined by sustainable regimes.

This paper discusses the application of a previously reported theory of explanation rhetoric (Maybury, 1988b) to the task of explaining constraint violations in a hybrid rule/frame based system for resource allocation (Dawson et al, 1987). Extracting tree transducer rules for syntactic MT systems can be hindered by word alignment errors that violate syntactic correspondences. We propose a novel model for unsupervised word alignment which explicitly takes into account target language constituent structure, while retaining the robustness and efficiency of the HMM alignment model. Our model’s predictions improve the yield of a tree transducer extraction system, without sacrificing alignment quality.
