Excavations in the Krông Nô volcanic cave have given a standard stratigraphy of the prehistoric cultural process of the middle Holocene period, providing a lot of documentary information about the prehistoric human habitation patterns: through the remains of kitchen fire pit; strategies to exploit food sources through traces of hunting-gathering; cultural behavior of people through the technique of making and using tools; spiritual culture of people through funeral rites and other vestiges of activities.

These geochemical traits point to the adakite-like affinity for Pertek andesite-dacite porphyries, however, they present some geochemical characteristics of both oceanic slab-derived and continental crust-derived adakites and show a dual character. Enrichment in K2 O, Th, Rb, and Hf in these adakitic porphyries is mostly associated with the crust-derived terrigenous sediments during active subduction, before the Early Miocene.

Petrified wood samples are found within terrestrial sediments belonging to the Late Oligocene-Early Miocene Danişmen Formation in Malkara-Keşan located in the southwest of the Thrace Basin. The petrified wood in both regions is usually silicified and partly coalified. The silicification of the Tertiary wood in the Malkara-Keşan region is associated with volcanic activity and coeval sedimentation. Thin sections from petrified wood samples were taken as transverse, tangential, and radial sections.

Volcanic ejecta or lahar can serve as an inorganic support for the immobilization of invertase. Pampanga and Bicol lahar samples were pretreated by ignition at 550o C for 5 hrs followed by concentrated hydrochloric acid treatment, activated by reaction with aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTS) and then covalently bound to invertase using glutaraldehyde as linker. Chemical tests confirmed the attachment of APTS to lahar and glutaraldehyde to silanized lahar. The quantity of immobilized invertase on Pampanga white, Pampanga black and Bicol black lahar were 98.73%, 96.73% and 84.27%, respectively.

The effects of total solar irradiance (TSI) and volcanic activity on long-term global temperature variations during solar cycles 19–23 were studied. It was shown that a large proportion of climate variations can be explained by the mechanism of action of TSI and cosmic rays (CRs) on the state of the lower atmosphere and other meteorological parameters. The role of volcanic signals in the 11-year variations of the Earth’s climate can be expressed as several years of global temperature drop.

An abnormally odd and rare occurrence of a basaltic body has been discovered in the middle of the Gercus Formation within the large, double-plunging NW-SE trending Bekhair Anticline to the north of Duhok city, northern Iraq. This is the first discovery of such a volcanic body within the widely exposed Gercus Formation in northern Iraq, southeastern Turkey, and western Iran.

In Eastern Sea (South China Sea), Jurassic - Cretaceous magmatic intrusives are discovered, they were cutting the Pre-Cenozoic sedimentaries. The Cenozoic volcanic basalts are strongly distributed together with Cenozoic sedimentaries. The paper concerns only the volcanic activities with description on their geology, chemistry, geochemistry, isotopic ages and their forming mechanism. In fact, the main topic of the paper is dealt with the forming mechanism of basalt in the dynamics of the opening of Eastern Sea in particular, and of South China Sea in general.

Systematic excavations began at Herculaneum in 1738 and ten years later at Pompeii. In subsequent years, archaeologists found villas and homes with furnishings and works of art preserved in the volcanic ash. The Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum was found buried with more than eighty statues and about a thousand ancient papyri (scrolls) inscribed with Greek texts. Modern knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman culture is largely based on what was unearthed in excavations at Pompeii, Herculaneum, and the other sites around the Bay of Naples.
