Residual stresses play a significant role in the properties and performance of epoxy-based coatings, with their origins rooted in various factors encountered during production and application. This study focuses on quantifying residual stresses in three distinct epoxy-based coatings, commonly used as linings for crude oil storage tanks, namely, pure epoxy, Novolac epoxy, and glass-flake-reinforced epoxy.

Deterioration mechanism due to drying and shrinkage of patch-repaired regions in reinforced concrete structures is analytically investigated. The moisture diffusion coefficient of the repair materials was determined by varying the drying temperature and the polymer-tocement ratios of the polymer-modified cement mortar (PCM) in the experiment. It is found that the diffusivity of PCM increases in proportion to the polymer-to-cement ratio up to 10%.

The objective of this study was to determine the volumetric swelling and shrinkage characteristics of air-dried Corsican pine in the longitudinal, tangential and radial directions. For this purpose, the swelling of the wood was caused by the wood being increased in water whilst placed in a swelling jig, and the shrinkage made in an oven by drying.
