Watery discharge

Theileriosis is one of the major tick borne diseases endemic in India. A four year crossbred dairy cow with history of anorexia, bilateral watery nasal discharge, pyrexia, cutaneous nodules was reported to Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal for treatment. On clinical examination the animal had pyrexia, bilateral adenopathy of prescapular lymph node, generalised cutaneous nodules, salivation and pale mucous membrane.

The present study was conducted on early postpartum (PP, n=30) crossbred cows under field conditions to evaluate their endometrial cytology, pH and Whiteside test score of genital discharge in relation to fertility post-treatment. The puerperal discharge aspirated was categorized based on the quality into four classes as bloody chocolate coloured, bloody with white flakes, turbid purulent and clear watery blood tinged. Endometrial cytology was collected using cytobrush assembly.

Conjunctivitis is inflammation of conjunctiva of eye. In recent times, it was found that Gatifloxacin is more safe and effective in treatment of acute form of conjunctivitis than with the same dose of ciprofloxacin. This article presents two case reports in birds wherein Gatifloxacin treatment was used for treatment of conjunctivitis. A female Aseel bird, 1 ½ years old and a Cockatiel bird, 1 year old was brought to the Avian and Exotic Pet Unit of Madras Veterinary College with the history of swollen eyes and off-feed for the past three days.
