The interaction of a laser-excited circular acoustic wave in water on an epoxy-resin surface was studied directly and visually by photoelasticity imaging technique. The result shows the direct image of the pressure wave, shear wave, and Scholte waves, which are the three typical acoustic waves excited when an acoustic wave crosses a solid-liquid interface. This technique provides a clear, whole field image of the phenomena; and is a promising method to study the acoustic phenomena at the interfaces.

A numerical model based on the 2D Boussinesq equations has been developed using the Finite Volume Method. The model was verified against experimental data for the case of wave breaking on a sloping beach. Simulated results by the model showed that the model has good capability of simulation of waves in the nearshore area. Numerical simulation was also carried out for the problem of waves on a plane beach with a breakwater and submerged dunes. Simulated results were compared with those computed by MIKE 21.

Non- hydrostatic numerical model namely SWASH has been used to simulate wave propagations over a submerged bar in a wave flume. Wave characteristics obtained from the model have been compared with experimental results conducted by Ohyama et al (1995). The agreement between model results and the experiments was quite good. The decomposition phenomena of waves were simulated quite the same with the experimental results. Although there are some small discrepancies between computation and experiment, the applicability of SWASH in simulating wave over submerged bars is considerable.

Early in the morning on June 30, 1908, a giant airburst occurred over the basin of the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in Central Siberia, Russia, leveling trees over an area of 2,000 km2 (770 mi2) (Figure 1). Eyewitnesses described a ―fire ball, bright as the Sun‖ (Longo, 2007).
