  • Studies on thirty six blackgram genotypes for the association and path analysis, revealed that, the genotypic correlations were in general higher than the phenotypic correlations and thus suggested that the observed relationships among the characters were due to genetic causes. The traits, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and 100 seed weight were found to possess positive significant association in desirable direction with grain yield per plant either at both genotypic and phenotypic levels.

  • The correlation coefficients among 20 yield contributing traits with their path effects towards and seed yield using 70 genotypes of mung bean were investigated during Kharif 2015-16. The analysis of correlation coefficient suggested that the magnitude of genotypic correlations were higher than the corresponding phenotypic correlations.

  • An experiment with seventy genotypes of bread wheat carried out to study the nature and magnitude of divergence using Mahalanobis D2 statistics, in randomized block design with three replications. The data for twelve important quantitative traits were recorded from the genotypes raised. High genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation were observed for grain weight per main spike followed by biological yield per plant, grain yield per plant, 1000 grain weight, harvest index, number of productive tillers per plant and number of grains per main spike.

  • One hundred and sixty two F2 plants of the cross IC 436656 x KKB 14045 was phenotyped for nine quantitative characters. High PCV and GCV were observed for number of primary branches, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant and single plant yield. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance was registered for the traits viz., days to 50% flowering, number of clusters per plant, hundred seed weight, pod length and single plant yield suggesting the additive gene action.
