Increased serum urate levels are associated with poor outcomes including but not limited to gout. It is unclear whether serum urate levels are the sole predictor of incident hyperuricemia or whether demographic and clinical risk factors also predict the development of hyperuricemia.

Chinese Australian women are largely absent from scholarly accounts of Chinese Australian migration and settlement in the White Australia Policy period. This invisibility in research has been perpetuated by studies that emphasise the sex imbalance of the Chinese Australian population at the time, focus on male spheres of influence and activity, and utilise “traditional” historical sources that generally overlook the lives of women.

Non-Hispanic black (NHB) infants are twice as likely as non-Hispanic white infants to experience rapid weight gain in the first 6 months, yet few trials have targeted this population. The current study tests the efficacy of “Mothers & Others,” a home-based intervention for NHB women and their study partners versus an attentioncontrol, on infant size and growth between birth and 15 months.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis is the name often given to Candida albicans infection of the vagina associated with a dermatitis of the vulva (an itchy rash). ‗Vaginal thrush‘, ‗monilia‘, and vulvovaginal candidosis are other names used for vulvovaginal candidiasis. About 20% of non-pregnant women aged 15 to 55 harbour Candida albicans in the vagina. Most have no symptoms and it is harmless to them. Overgrowth of Candida albicans causes a heavy white curd-like vaginal discharge, a burning sensation in the vagina and vulva and/or an itchy rash on the vulva and surrounding skin.
