In this study, glue Urea - Melamine- Formaldehyde (UMF) was created to produce laminated veneer lumber (LVL), then the quality of LVL produced from Urea-Formaldehyde glue (UF) of Gia Han Company was compared to that of LVL produced from UMF made in Laboratory of Wood Industry College, Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF).

This study determined effect of nano TiO2 ratio on some properties of wood plastic composite (WPC), especially ultraviolet (UV) resistance of the material. Research results showed that, the TiO2 nanoparticles did not significantly affect bonding quality between wood flour and plastic, it means when adding nanoparticles into WPC, the strength of material was almost unchanged.

The alkyde paint has high gloss, hardness, and flexibility, good color retention of coating film. It is good for adhesion with wood, metal and others. However, there have been very few researches on alkyde paints in Vietnam recently. This paper is aimed at studying the influence of rate of Beckosol 6501-80 binder and solids powder as titanium oxide R, Lithopone, CaCO3 to quality of surface film of Alkyde paint.

In this study, the factors related to the veneer material and adhesive properties were fixed; however, working conditions and process parameters (impregnation, pre-drying, curing, gluing, hot press) could affect the performance of plywood. Therefore, the objective of this work is to investigate the influence of two different processes (with and without curing before gluing) on bonding quality of the treated beech plywood.

Melia azedarach L. is a multipurpose timber tree that is important in forestry plantations. Genetic modification to improve the growth rate and wood quality is important to produce new cultivars of M. azedarach. In this study, the effects of AtGA20ox gene expression on plant growth, wood formation, and biomass production in transgenic M. azedarach plants were investigated. AtGA20ox was inserted into the binary vector pBI101 under the control of the xylem specific promoter CAD4 and transferred to M. azedarach via Agrobacterium-mediated method.

Investment in tree plantations always remained relatively low in India, inspite of the fact that the existing forests cannot continue to meet our wood requirements. The objective of this study is to identify such constraints and to suggest appropriate solutions to resolve these limitations through farmer-industry interface. Water scarcity, labour shortage and disease infestations were the most limiting factors in production of pulpwood by tie-up farmers with industries. The non-tie up farmers also expressed water scarcity as the most important production constraint. The second major constraint in the pulpwood production was non-availability of scientific knowledge to carry out the farm operations at appropriate time.
