Part 2 book "Ruminant physiology - Digestion, metabolism, growth and reproduction" includes content: Muscle growth and genetic regulation, control and manipulation of hyperplasia and hypertrophy in muscle tissue, regulation of protein synthesis for wool growth, regulation of macronutrient partitioning between maternal and conceptus tissues in the pregnant ruminant, the thermal physiology of the ruminant fetus,... and other contents.

Sheep are valuable resources for the animal fibre industry. Therefore, identifying genes which regulate wool growth would offer strategies for improving the quality of fine wool. In this study, we employed Agilent sheep gene expression microarray and proteomic technology to compare the gene expression patterns of the body side (hair-rich) and groin (hairless) skins of Aohan fine wool sheep (a Chinese indigenous breed).

The study has revealed that the production of livestock products were continuously increases over the year except wool production that was declined. The demand of livestock products according to low income growth will be high for milk, beef and buffalo meat and chicken in rural areas, whereas the demand of mutton and goat meat and eggs will be high in urban areas.

he aim of this study was to assess the toxicity of dispersants (OSD/SEACARE and OSD/LT) with different concentrations on the growth of Aspergillus and Rhizopus species in fresh water (Ocdee River) in KegbaraDereGokana Local Government Area, Rivers State. The Fresh water sample was collected by submerging 10liters of jerry Can (sterile) into a depth of 30cm in K-Dere River in Gokana Local Government Area, Rivers State. The samples were transported to the laboratory in sterile containers packed in coolers in an ice pack for analyses within six hours of collection.
