  • Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is the most important cash crop and there is a demand for simultaneous increase in the productivity of cotton, edible oilseeds and fodders to fulfil the diversified needs of growing population. For this purpose, cotton-based intercropping seems to be a promising strategy.   • A field experiment was conducted during winter season of 2005-06 to 2007-08 at ZRS, Darisai, East Singhbhum, Jharkhand to study the comparative performance of mulching material in chick pea. Maximum grain yield (10.14q/ha) was recorded in treatment having mulch with karanj leaf followed by combination of karanj leaf and dust (8.56q/ha) and both these treatments were significantly better than the others. Soil moisture content (15.40%) in 20-30 cm depth at the time of harvest was highest in the treatment of karanj field and minimum (11.77%) in the treatment without mulch.

Khargone block in Khargone district was selected purposively due to large area under chilli cultivation. From Khargone block 10 villages were selected randomly.   • The KVK, Mangan, North Sikkim conducted On Station Trials and Frontline Demonstrations to evaluate the suitability and profitability of high yielding rice variety Abhishek over local variety Attey as check in different locations. Improved organic cultivation practices were followed for the Abhishek variety and traditional farmer practices for the local check variety. The results indicated that the yield increase of 46.34 to 51.72 percent in Abhishek variety was recorded over local variety. Highest yield of 37.70 qt/ha with net return of Rs. 1,22,500 and C:B ratio of 2.

  • A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2018 in Alfisols to study grain yield of hybrid rice varieties as influenced by different nutrient management practices.   • The Onion is the major vegetable crop of Rajasthan. The study was conducted in Sikar district of Rajasthan, where onion is an important crop. A sample of 75 onion growers, based on land holding size were selected viz., small, semi-medium, medium and large size. the average area, production and productivity of Sikar district in the last 30 years (1981 to 2010) were observed 2618.9 hectares, 25075.9 tons and 95.7 q /ha, respectively. In Sikar district area, production and productivity of onion in the overall period (1981-2010) have increased by 6.71, 8.11 and 1.32 per cent per annum.
