The synthesized complexes have also been explored for forensic applications as fingerprint developing dyes. Apart from the excellent photoluminescent properties and forensic applications of the synthesized compounds, the scope of the work includes mild reaction conditions and better yield with easy of one pot synthesis by using readily available salicylaldehydes/2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde, cylohexyl-1,2-diamine and zinc acetate.

High temperature stress at reproductive stages of cotton crop severely affects the yield and quality of cotton crop under changing climatic conditions. To alleviate the adverse effects of high temperature stress on cotton crop, the regulatory effects of potassium (K), zinc (Zn), and boron (B) were assessed by applying different temperature regimes at three reproductive stages of cotton crop under field and glass house conditions.

The synthesis of a 4-(2,2-diphenylethoxy)phthalonitrile (1) and its organosoluble free base (2), zinc(II) (3), nickel(II) (4), and cobalt(II) (5) phthalocyanine derivatives is presented in this work. The novel complexes were characterized by elemental analyses and spectral data such as infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, ultraviolet visible, and mass data. General tendencies were described for photophysics (fluorescence) and photochemistry (photodegradation and singlet oxygen quantum yields) of the free base and zinc(II) phthalocyanine derivatives in dimethylformamide.

The synthesis of novel zinc, cobalt, indium, and metal-free phthalocyanines carrying four 3-(4-phenyloxy)coumarins in the periphery/nonperiphery were prepared by cyclotetramerization of 3-[4-(3,4-dicyanophenyloxy)phenyl]coumarin (2)/3-[4-(2,3- dicyanophenyloxy)phenyl]coumarin (3). The novel chromogenic compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, 1 H NMR, mass spectra, F-IR, and UV-vis spectral data. The effects of the coumarin units on the zinc, indium, and metal-free phthalocyanine complexes (2a/3a, 2c/3c, 2d/3d) were also investigated.

The thermal stabilities of the phthalocyanine compounds were determined by thermogravimetric analysis. For metal-free (2) and zinc (3) phthalocyanines, photochemical (photodegradation and singlet oxygen quantum yields) and photophysical (fluorescence quantum yields and fluorescence lifetimes) properties were analyzed in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). The cobalt (4) and copper (5) phthalocyanines were not evaluated for this purpose because of their paramagnetic behavior. The metal-free (2) and zinc (3) phthalocyanines’ fluorescence quenching behaviors were also investigated.

Novel water-soluble metallophthalocyanines (M: Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) containing azo dye were characterized. The structures were confirmed by IR, UV/vis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. Photochemical properties and aggregation behavior of zinc phthalocyanines were investigated. Singlet oxygen quantum yields of the zinc phthalocyanines (2d, 3d, 5d, and 6d) were 0.8, 0.57, 0.71, and 0.46, respectively.

Zinc oxide nanowires (ZnO NWs) were prepared and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy analyses. ZnO NWs were then employed as heterogeneous and recyclable catalyst for green synthesis of some new and known bispyrazole derivatives through a tandem Knoevenagel and Michael type addition reaction of aromatic aldehyde and pyrazolone. The synthetic method is operationally simple and affords product with high yields in short reaction times.

Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated proteins (CRISPR/Cas) is an acquired immune system found in bacteria and archaea that can specifically silence or degrade a foreign single or double strand nucleic acid to protect it from infection. In recent years, the CRISPR/Cas9 system has rapidly been evolved into a genome editing technology, in which the Cas9 endonuclease can be targeted to specific DNA sequences by guide RNAs (gRNAs) that are easily programmable.

In this work, phthalonitrile (3) and zinc(II) phthalocyanine (4) were prepared. To determine the photodynamic therapy potential of compound 4, singlet oxygen quantum yield, DNA binding and cleavage, and topoisomerase I inhibition experiments were performed. The singlet oxygen quantum yield value of compound 4 was found higher than that of the standard unsubstituted zinc(II) phthalocyanine compound (Std-ZnPc). The binding experiments showed that compound 4 interacted with ct-DNA strongly via nonintercalation mode.

Ferrous iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) at high concentration in the soil cause heavy metal toxicity and greatly affect rice yield and quality. To improve rice production, understanding the genetic and molecular resistance mechanisms to excess Fe and Zn in rice is essential. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) is an effective way to identify loci and favorable alleles governing Fe and Zn toxicty as well as dissect the genetic relationship between them in a genetically diverse population.

Deficiency of micronutrients during the last three decades has grown in both, magnitude and extent. This has become a major constraint to production and productivity of vegetables in general and onion in particular. Bhonde et al., (1995) evaluated the effect of zinc, copper and boron on onion crop. Bulb size and yield as well as quality of bulb enhanced when micronutrients were applied in combinations instead of their single application.micronutrients, Zinc and Boron, Quality of Onion
