  • In this paper, samples of mosses and lichens collected from Bory Tucholskie National Park, Zaborski Landscape Park, and their surroundings (Pomerania Province, northern Poland) were studied for water bears (Tardigrada). In total, 38 tardigrade taxa were identified and six of them (Hypsibius cf. allisoni, Hyp. scabropygus, Macrobiotus sottilei, Milnesium beasleyi, Mil. dornensis, and Mil. granulatum) are new records for the Polish fauna.

  • This study was performed in order to determine the Braconidae fauna of meadows and forest areas around Gala Lake National Park. Samples were collected from June to October 2011 in selected pasture, forest, and rice agricultural areas. As a result of the study, a total of 38 taxa species belonging to 12 genera within 5 subfamilies were identified.

  • There is great variation in the conservation status of the last habitats with long-term natural viable populations of the salmon species Hucho hucho in Maramureş Mountains Nature Park, Eastern Carpathians (Romania). According to the specific guidelines for Natura 2000, 42.11% are in good conservation status, 31.57% are of average status, and 26.32% are in a partially degraded condition.

  • A brief study was conducted to identify the common endoparasites that affect the Captive Pheasants. This study was undertaken in captive pheasants reared at Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, Chennai. The dropping samples (n=76) were preserved in small containers filled with 10% formalin. The samples were examined for the evidence of endoparasitism by sedimentation, flotation techniques and direct smear method.

  • A study on the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites of herbivores was undertaken in herbivore safari at Nandankanan Zoological Park, Odisha by collecting a total number of 509 faecal samples of 4 species which includes Spotted deer (Axis axis), Sambar (Cervus unicolor), Chausingha / four-horned antelope (Tetracerus quadricornis), and Barking deer (Muntiacus muntjac). 210 faecal samples were positive for helminthic infection indicating a total prevalence of 41.26%.

  • The Niligiri Langur (Trachypithecus johnii) is a threatened black faced colobine which is endemic to Western Ghats in south India. The present study is designed to study the bacterial flora of gut from this non-human primate. The captive non-human primates usually suffer from gastrointestinal disturbances which often go unnoticed but they harbor variety bacterial flora in the gut.
