Deep eutectic solvent from phenol and choline chloride as a low-cost potential solvent for the dye-sensitized solar cells

Deep eutectic solvent (DES) from choline chloride and phenol (ChCl-phenol) was successfully synthesized by a simple method and characterized by modern techniques (FT-IR, NMR, TGA, DSC). With many advantages such as low-cost preparation, thermal-stability, and biodegradability, ChCl-phenol could be applied as a potential solvent for liquid electrolyte preparation in the dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).
