Defining dry port characteristics: Insights from a global sample

The paper is structured as follows: Based on reviewing and synthesizing the existing literature, we first discuss the concept of dry port by finding the similarities of various terminologies used for inland nodes currently used in different systems. Next, the paper presents a classification of dry ports based on a multitude of factors, dimensions and the respective benefits to different parties.
