Fish oils in health and disease

Fish oils derived from oily fish are an excellent source of omega -3 fatty acids. Omega 3 fatty acids are poly unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and are essential fatty acids (EFA), as humans cannot synthesise them de novo and must depend on dietary sources. Data suggests a role of omega-3 EFA in the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal, rheumatologic, bone and respiratory illness.
