Interplay between inflammation, coagulation and redox status in early onset neonatal sepsis: Insight into prediction, diagnosis and management

Sepsis in newborn infants has a high risk of morbidity and mortality. Despite advances in medicine, diagnosis of neonatal sepsis remains as a major challenge. The aim of this study is to unravel the role played by new network of biomarkers namely high mobility group box 1(HMGB1), thrombomodulin and heat shock protein (Hsp) 72 in addition to redox status in diagnosis of early onset neonatal sepsis before and after antibiotic therapy.
