Landmarks and orientations in teaching and learning school mathematics

This talk explores the interconnected and critical issues of competencies, applications, and assessments in the teaching and learning of school mathematics. We examine the dual roles of competencies as both helpful and questionable, the limits and significance of applications, and the unintended consequences of assessments.
