In this paper, the butt welded joint of AISI 316L stainless steel plates is studied. The Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding process is selected for this material. A SYSWELD software based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to determine the temperature field and residual stresses of two stainless steel plates.

The observations for the binder-jetted material therefore stand in stark contrast to those for SLM-made stainless steel which can provide an even higher yield strength than the wrought material. From a mechanism point of view, the low mechanical properties of the binder-jetted material may be explained by the high initial porosity which is reminiscent of cast metals.

This paper assessed impact of dilution on the microstructure and properties of the Ni alloy In 625 deposited by Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) on two substrates: carbon steel API 5LX70 (API 5L) and stainless steel AISI 316L. Differences due to the interaction with the substrate were maximized analyzing single layer coatings, processed with three deposition current: 120 A, 150 A and 180 A. Dilution was determined by the area ratio and Vickers hardness measured on the transverse section of coatings.

To promote and enhance the biological responses of implant hydroxyapatite (HAP) coatings, these are modified by substitution with various ions for the development of bioactive bone implants. In the present work, we have fabricated a MgO/Tb,Eu-HAP dual substituted hydroxyapatite coating on borate passivated 316L stainless steel (316L SS) by the electrodeposition method.

Zinc hydroxyapatite coatings (ZnHAp) were synthesized on 316L stainless steel by ion exchange method between hydroxyapatite coatings (HAp) and solution containing Zn(NO3)2. Effect of the initial concentration of Zn2+ and contact time to ion exchange process was studied. The analytical results of FTIR, SEM, Xray, and AAS showed that the obtained coatings were single phase crystals of HAp, and the present of Zn in HAp structure with the atomic ratios of Zn/Ca, (Ca + Zn)/P of 0.143 and 1.707 changed the morphology, the crystal diameter and the lattice parameters.

This study focuses on 316L stainless steel fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) in the context of nuclear application, and compares with a cold-rolled solution annealed 316L sample. The effect of heat treatment (HT) and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) on the microstructure and mechanical properties is discussed.

The influences of scanning potential ranges, scanning times to deposit MgHAp coatings were researched. The analytical results FTIR, SEM, X-ray, EDX, thickness and adhension strength showed that MgHAp coatings were single phase of HAp, fibrous shapes, thickness 8.1 µm and adhesion strength 7.20 MPa at the scanning potential ranges of 0÷-1.7 V/SCE and scanning times of 5 scans.

The results show that the HAp/fCNTs nanocomposite coatings contain single phase of HAp and CNTs with the coating thickness of 6.9 µm and the amount of fCNTs in the coatings is 6.95 %. With the presence of fCNTs in HAp coatings, the solubility of the coatings decreases in comparision with pure HAp coatings.

Chemical structure of -aminonaphthalene (ANa) allows to deal with its electrochemical polymerisation, analogously as for aniline. To determine the oxidation potentials of ANa, the polymerisation has been realised on Pt electrode using cyclic polarisation. It was found that in sulphuric acid 0.5 M the first oxidation starts at 620 mV/SCE with the peak potential at 760 mV, and the second oxidation at 890 mV/SCE with the peak potential at 1230 mV. The PANa film development decreases the current peaks meaning a reduction of polymerisation rate.
