In this research, we continued to generate the polyclonal antibodies against SRBSDV based on small conservative antigen-rich peptides derived from the P10 protein of representative Vietnam SRBSDV isolates. The resulting antibody will be the premise for developing an SRBSDV rapid diagnostic kit in future.

An improved reverse genetics system for influenza A virus generation and its implications for vaccine production present an improved system for the generation of influenza viruses that allows the easy and repro ducible production of vaccine viruses in vero cells. Application of this system may be especially advantageous in situations of outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses.

Polymerase Chain Reaction is widely held as one of the most important inventions of the 20th century in molecular biology. Small amounts of the genetic material can now be amplified to be able to a identify, manipulate DNA, detect infectious organisms, including the viruses that cause AIDS, hepatitis, tuberculosis, detect genetic variations, including mutations, in human genes and numerous other tasks.

Type I interferons (IFN) are important components of the innate antiviral response. A key signalling pathway activated by IFNais the Janus kinase⁄ signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK⁄STAT) pathway. Major components of the pathway have been identified. However, critical kinetic properties that facilitate accelerated initiation of intracellular antiviral signalling and thereby promote virus elimination remain to be determined.

RNA interference (RNAi) is a powerful tool to silence gene expression post-transcriptionally. Delivering sequences of RNAi in vivo remains a problem. The aim of this study was to use JC virus (JCV) virus-like particles (VLPs) as a vector for delivering RNAi in silencing the cytokine gene of IL-10. Methods: JCV VLPs were generated by recombinant JCV VP1 protein in yeast expression system. DNA fragment containing IL-10 shRNA was packaged into VLPs by osmotic shock. Results: In RAW 264.7 cells, IL-10 shRNA was found to reduce IL-10 expression by 85 to 89%, as compared with VLPs alone.
