. In this research, we present the DOAS system using the Ce:LiCAF laser for determining SO2 gas concentration in the atmosphere. The Ce:LiCAF laser has a full width at half maximum of 2 nm with a wavelength range from 286 to 291 nm and a peak wavelength of 288.5 nm. The results show that the DOAS system accurately determines the gas concentration with a measurement error of 6%. This result can serve as the basis for developing practical DOAS systems with the ability to monitor a wide range of gasses and survey many other types of pollutants.

Ebook "Creation of new metal nanoparticles and their hydrogen-storage and catalytic properties" reports the discovery of metal nanoparticles having new structures that do not exist in bulk state and that exhibit hydrogen storage ability or CO oxidation activity. Research into the reaction of hydrogen with metals has attracted much attention because of potential applications as effective hydrogen storage materials, as permeable films, or as catalysts for hydrogenation.

In ebook "Atmospheric and aerosol chemistry" Atmospheric aerosol particles serve an important role in establishing the climate and in the hydrological cycle as nuclei in the formation of cloud droplets. The relationship between an aerosol particle’s chemical composition and its ability to serve as a cloud condensation nucleus (CCN) is complex. Organic material, a ubiquitous component of tropospheric aerosols, is typically more hydrophobic and less hygroscopic, and therefore less CCN active, than inorganic salts.

Ebook "Nitrosyl complexes in inorganic chemistry, biochemistry and medicine II" has not only had implications for biology but also homogeneous catalysis and Professor Heinz Berke and Dr. Yangfeng Jiang have reviewed recent developments in this field in the chapter entitled “Nitrosyl Complexes in Homogeneous Catalysis.” The ability of nitric oxide to coordinate in a flexible fashion has considerable implications for lowering the kinetic barriers of reactions of organic molecules at metal centres and Berke and Jiang give many examples of this charactristic.

The advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) were commonly used in textile dyeing wastewater treatment due to its ability to rapidly degrade dyed compounds. However, its disadvantage is the limited dispersion of ozone in wastewater. To minimize the disadvantage, it is necessary to improve the gas-liquid phase contact to maximize the dispersion of ozone in the wastewater body.

Characterization of the anisotropic conductive behavior of a copper paste for structural electronics
There is a growing interest in structural electronics due to their ability to produce 3D electrically functionalized objects that are aimed towards sensors and HumaneMachine interfaces. One approach for structural electronics is Paste Extrusion Modeling (PEM), which can instrument 3D complex objects.

Research on oligosaccharides, including the complicated product mixtures generated by lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs), is growing at a rapid pace. LPMOs are gaining major interest, and the ability to efficiently and accurately separate and quantify their native and oxidized products chromatographically is essential in furthering our understanding of these oxidative enzymes.

Melatonin has a long history of studies which confirm its ability to inhibit cancer growth. Melatonin is present in high concentrations in the mitochondria of normal cells but is likely absent from the mitochondria of cancer cells, at least when isolated from tumors harvested during the day.

A complete liquid phase technology and a function regulator were applied to prepare CuZnAl catalysts for higher alcohol synthesis. Characterizations showed that the introduction of the function regulator can change the reduction ability of copper oxides and the surface basicity of catalysts. Activity tests indicated that the selectivity of higher alcohol is high when considerable medium-strong basicity and the synergistic effects of copper ion and metal copper exist on the catalytic surface.

The ability of the hyperthermophilic archaeon Sulfolobus solfataricus P2 to grow on organic and inorganic sulfur sources was investigated. A sulfur-free mineral medium was employed with different sources of carbon. The results showed that inorganic sulfur sources display growth curve patterns significantly different from the curves obtained with organic sulfur sources. Combustion of fossil fuels leads to the atmospheric emission of sulfur oxides that contribute to acid rain and air pollution.

This work demonstrates the fabrication of a highly selective ammonia (NH3) gas sensor based on Graphene/SilvereSilver Oxide/Polypyyrole (Gr/AgeAg2O/PPy) nanocomposite. To archive this objective, a cost-effective, room temperature mediated solution-based synthesis of Gr/AgeAg2O/PPy nanocomposite was exploited as an efficient performance NH3 gas sensor through combining the exceptional electrical characteristics of Graphene and sensing abilities of AgeAg2O/PPy.

The synthesis and characterisation including 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy of a Mannich base 1,4-di-(5- acetamido-2-hydroxybenzyl)piperazine is herein reported. The Mannich reaction leading to the formation of the ligand took place at both ends of piperazine. Four metal complexes [Cu(II) and Fe(III)] including those bearing thiocyanate groups (SCN–) in N- and S-bonding modes have been studied for their abilities to mimic catecholase oxidase. All the metal complexes are catalytically active with the highest turnover rate (k cat) recorded for complex 3.

The hydrogen bond donating ability of 1,8-naphthalenediol was investigated via a series of 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR experiments. Complexation studies using triphenylphosphine oxide and cyclohexanone as hydrogen bond acceptors revealed that 1,8-naphthalenediol is a more effective hydrogen bond donor compared to 1-naphthol and 8-methoxy-1- naphthol. Afterwards, its effectiveness as a hydrogen bonding catalyst was demonstrated in the Friedel–Crafts-type addition reaction of indole to trans-β -nitrostyrene.

Boron oxide (B2 O3 ) is derived from dehydration of boric acid and is a colorless, semitransparent, crystalline compound that is moderately soluble in water. On the other hand, boron oxide is chemically hygroscopic. This gives the molecule the ability to soak up water and adhere to tissues. Boron oxide can be used locally after tumor debulking in inoperable tumors and especially when the tumor-free margin distance cannot be provided.

The acetic acid bacterium Gluconobacter oxydans 621H is characterized by its exceptional ability to incompletely oxidize a great variety of carbohydrates in the periplasm. The metabolism of this α-proteobacterium has been characterized to some extent, yet little is known about its transcriptomes and related data. In this study, we applied two different RNAseq approaches. Primary transcriptomes enriched for 5′-ends of transcripts were sequenced to detect transcription start sites, which allow subsequent analysis of promoter motifs, ribosome binding sites, and 5´-UTRs.
