A Kunitz-type trypsin inhibitor protein has been purified and characterized from seeds of Acacia nilotica L. LC-MS/MS analysis of Acacia nilotica trypsin inhibitor (AnTI) provided the N-terminal fragment of 11 amino acids which yielded 100% identity with already reported Kunitz-type trypsin inhibitor protein of Acacia confusa (AcTI) in UniProtKB database search.

The changes in temperature, microbial population dynamics and other factors were studied during the process of composting by layering residues of Calotropis procera, Prosopis juliflora, Azadirachta indica, Acacia nilotica and weeds in separate pits. Temperature began to rise soon after filling the residues and ranged between 55–59 °C for next 6 to 7 days with maximum being in Calotropis pit (59.2 °C).

In the present study, a considerable build up in soil organic carbon under tree canopy as compared to open canopy was found and soil organic carbon under tree canopy decreased with an increase in soil depth and increasing canopy distance. The total nitrogen percentage in soil decreased with an increase in depth and canopy. In case of available soil phosphorus, it decreased under the tree canopy with increasing soil depth and canopy distance.

For the past hundreds of year’s trees like Dalbergia sissoo (Shisham), Acacia nilotica (Kikar), Prosopis cinneraria (Khejri) etc. have inhabited vast areas in the plains of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal and Myanmar. These have also been widely used for afforestation in many parts of the country except in the very hot, cold and wet tracts. These have good atmospheric N2 - fixing ability, therefore, are extensively planted in social and agro-forestry programmes. In order to evaluate the effect of soil salinity, present investigation was conducted on two tree species i.e.

The ban imposed on the usage of synthetic-dyes has led to the reinvention of natural-dyes throughout the world. Today, the faded antiquity is unveiling due to the concern manifested globally for saving the environment from pollution. In this experiment the dried Acacia nilotica pods and degummed mulberry-silk yarn were used. The powdered Acacia nilotica (5, 10, 15, 20g) was soaked overnight in different M.L.R (1:20, 1:30, 1:40) to optimize the dye-concentration and it was extracted by aqueous-method. Based on the reflectance and colour-strength, 10g dye-concentration, 1:30 M.L.
