Patients with stroke in rehabilitation wards are at an increased risk of falling. Although patients’ participation in establishing medical safety is considered crucial, there is limited evidence on their perspectives of falls. This study aims to comprehensively elucidate the subjective falling experience of patients with stroke who have been admitted to rehabilitation wards.

Multimorbidity is defined as the co-occurrence of multiple chronic or acute diseases and medical conditions in the same individual and can be grouped into different patterns based on the type of disease. These patterns are associated with poorer quality of life and premature death. It is believed that these patterns entail functional limitations, which may contribute to the fear of falling; however, this association remains unknown.

Falls are the second leading cause of accidental deaths worldwide mainly in older people. Older people have poor vision and published evidence suggests that it is a risk factor for falls. Less than half of falls clinics assess vision as part of the multi-factorial assessment of older adults at risk of falls despite vision being an essential input for postural stability.

Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries in older adults, and attention to falls prevention is imperative. Prognostic models identifying high-risk individuals could guide fall-preventive interventions in the rapidly growing older population.

Frailty is associated with multiple adverse outcomes in stage-5 chronic kidney disease (CKD-5) and upwards of one third of people receiving haemodialysis (HD) are frail. While many frailty screening methods are available in both uremic and non-uremic populations, their implementation in clinical settings is often challenged by time and resource constraints.

Fragility fractures are one of the leading causes for disability in old people. The main underlying mechanisms are osteoporosis and falls. Evidence-based measures to prevent either falls or fractures are available. However, coordinated preventive approaches combining bone health and fall prevention are rare.

Based on the possible association between reduced foot dorsiflexion and high risk of falls, the main objective was to determine the ankle and 1º metatarsophalangeal joint (1stMTTP) dorsiflexion range of motion and falls rate in patients with asthma compared to healthy matched-paired controls.

INTRODUCTION Medical countermeasures are vital to protect the public against acts of terrorism and other public health emergencies. The need for an effec- tive system of dispensing medical countermeasures gained recognition in 1979 after the accidental release of radionuclides from the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania. If emissions had been higher, widespread dispensing of the countermeasure potassium iodide would have been necessary to prevent future cases of thyroid cancer among those living nearby or downwind.

I offer this book of "Wanderings" with a hesitating hand. It has little merit, and must make its way through the world as well as it can. It will receive many a jostle as it goes along, and perhaps is destined to add one more to the number of slain in the field of modern criticism. But if it fall, it may still, in death, be useful to me; for should some accidental rover take it up and, in turning over its pages, imbibe the idea of going out to explore Guiana in order to give the world an...

Chapter 8 Statements switch (i) { case 0: CaseZero(); goto case 1; case 1: CaseZeroOrOne(); goto default; default: CaseAny(); break; } Multiple labels are permitted in a switch-section. The example switch (i) { case 0: CaseZero(); break; case 1: CaseOne(); break; case 2: default: CaseTwo(); break; } is legal. The example does not violate the "no fall through" rule because the labels case 2: and default: are part of the same switch-section. The “no fall through” rule prevents a common class of bugs that occur in C and C++ when break statements are accidentally omitted.

Finally, electromagnetic bearings involve complex design problems to ensure that the heavy spindle, with its high inertia, does not fall and damage the magnetic bearing when power is shut off or momentarily discontinued. Therefore, a noninterrupted power supply is required to operate the magnetic bearing, even at no load or at shutdown conditions of the system. In order to secure safe operation in case of accidental power failure or support of the rotor during shutdown of the machine, an auxiliary bearing is required. Rolling-element bearings with large clearance are commonly used.
