  • The protection of the environment through the recycling of waste brought back many economic-social benefits. Demand for the recycling of the large quantity of activated sludge derived from biological treatment stage of the wastewater treatment plant has become urgent in recent years. This study examined successfully the batch biosorption of Sulfur Brown GD on the recycled material prepared by the acid washing biomass of activated sludge.

  • This work reports on dyeing of nylon/elastane fabric with water-soluble phthalocyanines (1-4) bearing quinoline 5-sulfonic acid substituents on the peripheral or nonperipheral positions and determining the antibacterial efficiency of the phthalocyanine compounds and the dyed nylon/elastane fabrics. The light, washing, water, perspiration, and rubbing fastness properties of nylon/elastane fabrics dyed with phthalocyanines were also determined. The results showed that all dyed fabrics showed very good wet fastness values.

  • The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of pH on the lipid oxidation of red onion skin extracts (ROSEs) treated with washed tilapia muscle model systems (WTMS). Minced and buffered washed samples were prepared at pH 6.3 and 6.8. The WTMS were treated with2 different concentrations of red onion skin prior to storage for 5 days. Lipid oxidation was investigated via peroxide values (PVs), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), and the formation of volatile compounds. Fatty acid profiles of the samples were also identified.

  • Using existing scientific propositions as a basis, the structure of bar commercial soap is made. It has been stated that the macrostructure of commercial soap takes the form of hexagonal prismatic cells, which are the most energetically beneficial form of full-wall crystallization structures of the system. Maximum mechanical strength is achieved within concrete time after forming the soap mass into the cake soap form.

  • The effect of pre harvest spraying of calcium chloride (CaCl2) and calcium nitrate (Ca NO3) @ 0.5 and 1% on shelf life and quality attributes of mango cvs Dashehari and Amrapali was investigated. Pre harvest spray was carried out on fully grown mango trees prior to one month of harvesting following second subsequent spray, 15 days after of first one. Full ripe fruits of both the cultivars were packed in brown papers bags after washing and surface air drying and stored under ambient condition (36 ± 20C at 75 ± 3% RH).

  • This research was conducted to prepare apricot jam from the pulp of fresh mature apricots by using artificial sweeteners .Apricots were washed with clean water to remove dust particles. After sorting and pitting, apricots were cut into two halves and dipped in 0.1% citric acid solution to avoid browning. The pulp of apricots was extracted by using plumper. Apricot pulp was heated to get the desired consistency. Low heating was continued and brix were noted after every 20 minutes. Pectin with small amount of nonnutritive sweeteners were dissolved separately and added to the mixture.

  • ZSM-5 zeolites are widely used as catalysts in the oil refi ning and petrochemical industry due to their outstanding catalytic performance. Despite their undisputed applications, the relative small pore size of ZSM-5 zeolites often imposes intra-crystalline diff usion limitations for reactant molecules, provoking the lower catalyst utilisation. To alleviate such limitations, in this work, an additional network of mesopores has been introduced by the post-synthesis modifi cation.

  • The Chempolis process is also based on using formic and acetic acid (Rousu & Rousu 2000, Rousu et al. 2003, Anttila et al. 2006) as cooking chemicals to produce pulp, biochemicals and biofuels from non-wood raw materials. Formic acid is the main component in cooking liquor. After cooking, the pulp is washed and pressed in several stages with formic acid. The last washing stage is performed at a high pulp consistency with performic acid. Then, the pulp is bleached with alkaline peroxide. Spent cooking liquor can be evaporated to 90% dry solids and incinerated.

  • A one-gram, oven-dried sample of extractive-free bamboo was placed in a 150 mL beaker. Fifteen mL of cold sulfuric acid (72 percent) was added slowly while stirring and mixed well. The reaction proceeded for two hours with frequent stirring in a water bath maintained at 20 o C. When the two hours had expired, the specimen was transferred by washing it with 560 mL of distilled water into a 1,000 mL flask, diluting the concentration of the sulfuric acid to three percent. An allihn condenser was attached to the flask. The apparatus was placed in...
