This paper presents the results of applying geoinformatics technology in early detection of forest fires in Vietnam. Two methods were used to detect forest fires, including (1) Using ground monitoring equipment: applying algorithms to detect smoke and fire from the series of "forest fire" recorded by IP Camera, characteristics of smoke, such as color, movement and expandable properties used in fire detection; accuracy of algorithm for fire detection with video frames is 97% and with image frames from digital cameras is 100%; Ground monitoring equipment can detect 84.

The objective of this study is to investigate the hotspot (fires and other thermal anomalies) detection and characterization product from the TET-1 satellite sensing system from the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). The satellite is envisioned, as part of a constellation of satellites, to provide detection and characterization of fires at a higher spatial resolution when compared to the current standard global coverage from the MODIS fire products.

In this paper, we study the problem of complex event detection (CED) in a monitoring environment that consists of potentially a large number of distributed event sources (e.g., hardware sensors or software receptors). CED is becoming a fundamental capability in many domains including network and infrastructure security (e.g., denial of service attacks and intrusion detection [22]) and phenomenon and activity tracking (e.g., fire detection, storm detection, tracking suspicious behavior [23]).

Inspection, on the other hand, is defined as that monitoring function con- ducted in an organization to locate and report existing and potential hazards that could cause accidents in the workplace. Legally, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducts inspections. What we are discussing are discussing are surveys, not inspections. Safety surveys frequently reveal potential causes of accidents and, thus, provide an opportunity to take corrective action before an injury occurs.

Similarly, even though a typical board meets more frequently (usually about six to eight times a year) than the audit committee, it has a variety of other issues on its agenda besides overseeing the financial reporting of the firm. The board is responsible for issues such as the hiring, compensation, and firing of the CEO and overseeing the firm’s overall business strategy, including its activity in the market for corporate control. So it is possible that even a well-functioning, competent, and independent board may fail to detect accounting problems in large firms.

The elderly population is seen differently in developing and developed countries. In the former, the age limit for a person to be considered old is 60 years; in the latter, this age limit is 65 years. This differentiation emerged during the First United Nations World Summit on Population Aging, through Resolution number 39/125(1). The need to establish chronological parameters for old age becomes more relevant as social and health actions are scheduled.

Remember what you’ve learned so far. Look at structure. Look for the main idea of the passage. Consider the purpose for which the passage was written. What clues can you deduce from the writing style about the author’s attitude toward the subject? Is the attitude positive? Negative? Objective? Try to pick out individual words that further each writer’s intent and support each writer’s opinion. If it helps, underline or make notes on important points. Active reading techniques like these will keep you focused on some very detailed reading comprehension passages....
