  • Using renewable energy sources (RES) to face energy shortages in the context of rising load demand is a central issue in national power system planning. This paper aims to evaluate the transient stability of an actual distribution grid (DG) under different penetration levels of LSPV by ETAP software.

  • Conventional scientific research methods were used to assess the current situation of content, forms and demand for extracurricular sports activities of students at the University of Economic and Technical Industries. The results show that the content and forms of extracurricular activities of students are diverse, rich and dispersed in both male and female, and the dispersion among males is higher than that of females.

  • Elderly care service projects (ECSPs) aim to provide care services with the help of market forces on the supply side to satisfy the huge demand of the elderly. Subsidies play an important role in motivating the investors to invest in the ECSPs immediately. The optimal subsidy scheme should balance the policy costs and the investors’ interests.

  • This paper aimed to analyze the financial gap between the demands and the actual credit obtained of the Seng Cu (SC) rice chain participants in Lao Cai province, Vietnam. Cross-sectional data were collected from 160 face-to-face interviews with SC rice producers and in-depth interviews with 31 other stakeholders involved in the chain (demand-side) as well as the representatives of district-branch banks (supply-side) in 2016-2017.

  • In India, area under cultivation is about 159.7 million ha. 68% of the total net sown area comes under dry land cultivation, spread over 177 districts. As farmers turn increasingly to multiple cropping systems to boost their incomes and meet increased demand for their produce, the time available for seedbed preparation has decreased considerably.

  • Processing of reads from high throughput sequencing is often done in terms of edges in the de Bruijn graph representing all k-mers from the reads. The memory requirements for storing all k-mers in a lookup table can be demanding, even after removal of read errors, but can be alleviated by using a memory efficient data structure.

  • In this paper, the application of a series grid-side converter (SEGSC) connected to a wind-turbine-driven doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is introduced. The setup allows the wind turbine system an uninterruptible fault ride-through of voltage dips. The SEGSC can compensate the faulty line voltage, while the DFIG wind turbine can continue its nominal operation as demanded in actual grid codes.

  • Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is one of the most effective solutions to meet an enormous growth of travel demand in developing countries’ urban areas where urban rail systems are on the plan or under construction but not in reality yet. Based on collection and synthesis of successful and outstanding experience over the world (e.g. in Bogota (Colombia), Guangzhou (China), Ahmedabad (India)), the Bus Rapid Transit Standard (BRTS) was introduced to provide guidelines to the following creation of BRT.

  • Progressive increase in urban area, more particularly with construction of buildings is reducing the availability of land for agriculture. The demand for food is also rapidly increasing with increase in population. Hence, it is difficult to feed the growing population with limiting land resources. In that context, there is ample scope for rooftop cultivation to solve the problem of land shortage for agricultural production. Proper irrigation scheduling for crops grown on rooftops is yet to be established. Irrigation scheduling is only possible by knowing the actual crop evapotranspiration.

  • The study was conducted in Shipra river basin to determine actual evapotranspiration in the area. Long term daily meteorological data including rainfall, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and sunshine hours of Indore IMD station was used as input data in CROPWAT Model 8.0. The potential evapotranspiration was converted into actual evapotranspiration by using the crop coefficient. Reference evapotranspiration is a measure of evaporative demand, while the crop coefficient accounts for crop characteristics and management practices (e.g.

  • In this paper we attempt to determine whether the Chinese foreign exchange reserves have been too large. We empirically analyzed the foreign exchange reserves first by using the rate analysis method and then using the cost-profit method. Using the rate analysis method we found that the Chinese actual foreign exchange reserves greatly exceeded the 3-month import foreign exchange demands and also that the optimal foreign exchange reserves demands were calculated to be 40% of the total foreign debt balance.

  • A weed is essentially any plant which grows where it is not required. A weed can be thought of as any plant growing in the wrong place at the wrong time and doing more harm than good. Weeds are the most severe and widespread biological constraint to crop production, and cause invisible damage till the crop is harvested. The composition and competition by weeds are dynamic and dependent on soil, climate, cropping and management factors. Weeds decrease the value of land, particularly perennial weeds, which tend to accumulate on long fallows; increase cost of cleaning.

  • Considering the increasing demand to flavored milk and nutritional, therapeutic and post meal mouth freshener property of Piper betel leaves the present study was undertaken with object to optimize the levels of Piper betel leaves for developing flavoured milk and to study the sensory qualities as well as physico-chemical properties of Piper betel flavoured milk. Initially fresh cow milk was standardized to 2% fat and aqueous extract of piper betel leaves (PBLE) of different verities were prepared. The level of PBLE and sugar were optimized using CCRD of RSM.

  • This paper is an extension of Deng et al. (2007) that was published in the European Journal of Operational Research. We have generalized their model from ramp type demand to arbitrary positive demand while theoretically discovering an important phenomenon: The optimal solution is actually independent of the demand as pointed out by Wou (2010), Hung (2011) and Lin (2011).

  • The hypotheses of this work are that in future there will be a clear demand for non-wood-based fibres at least in China and that the combined production of fibres and energy is more cost effective than the production of energy alone. In actual fact, no satisfactory process exists which could solve all of the traditional problems related to non-wood pulping.
