The incidence of acute liver failure from herpes simplex virus is rare. Acute liver failure can lead to complications and death. Thus, careful observation is crucial, even if the patient has shown some improvements.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a serious complication of many drugs. Amongst recreational drugs, cocaine, amphetamines and ecstasy (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) have been known to cause ALF as a complication. However, the true effects and management on the liver of such cases have not been well reported and treatment of such conditions needs prompt action.

Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) has a wide spectrum of presentations, from an asymptomatic status to acute liver failure (ALF). The therapeutic approach depends on disease severity and related etiology with patients with severe forms of presentation classically managed in intensive care units (ICUs).

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a rare condition that can have a variable clinical course and potentially fatal outcomes. Medication toxicity is a known etiology, however liver failure induced by amiodarone is rare and has been reported mostly in the setting of intravenous (IV) infusion.

Liver involvement in adults with acute myeloid leukemia is uncommon. Most of the case reports describe acute liver failure or obstructive jaundice, while acute hepatitis is rarely mentioned. We report a patient with acute myeloid leukemia who presented with clinical, biochemical, and radiological signs of acute hepatitis that totally regressed after chemotherapy.

Hepatitis B infection remains a global health problem, with progression to acute-chronic hepatitis, severe liver failure, and death making hepatitis B one of the most serious infections worldwide. The disease is most widely transmitted from an infected mother to her baby, after exposure to infected blood or body fluids or unsafe sexual contact.

In acute liver failure (ALF) therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) improves laboratory measures of liver function. In patients with ALF requiring minimal vasoactive support TPE has also been shown to provide haemodynamic benefits including an increase in systemic blood pressure.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs frequently after liver transplant surgery and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. While the impact of intraoperative hypotension (IOH) on postoperative AKI has been well demonstrated in patients undergoing a wide variety of non-cardiac surgeries, it remains poorly studied in liver transplant surgery. We tested the hypothesis that IOH is associated with AKI following liver transplant surgery.

Peel of vegetables and fruits are of the most important part that helps in protecting the body from diseases, getting rid of the free radicals, as they contain vitamins and minerals which are antioxidant, in addition to phenols. Previous studies have proved the existence of vitamin C, E, and B6 in banana peels, especially vitamin C that can act as an antioxidant.

Pediatric acute liver failure is a rare, life-threatening illness. Mushroom poisoning is a rare etiology. For patients with irreversible pediatric acute liver failure, liver transplantation is the ultimate lifesaving therapy. However, it is difficult to determine the optimal timing of transplantation.

A 21-year-old man from India presented with acute hepatitis associated with a 1-week history of abdominal pain, pruritus, and dark urine. Over a 7-day admission, the patient’s acute hepatitis evolved into acute liver failure with low-grade encephalopathy, markedly elevated transaminases, bilirubin, and impaired hepatic synthetic function. He was eventually diagnosed with acute hepatitis E virus (HEV) and was transitioned to supportive management. Acute HEV is a rare cause of acute liver failure.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a medical emergency with high mortality. Accurate etiological diagnosis, intensive liver support, and liver transplantation are critical for the management of these patients. Malignant infiltration of the liver uncommonly results in ALF. Diffuse infiltration can be missed by imaging, particularly in early stages, and biopsy is often required to clinch the diagnosis. We report a case of ALF due to diffuse liver metastasis.
