Some of the most important skills of university students is to develop the capacity to resolve problems posed by their communities, which implies that students become independent, autonomous and self-regulated. Also they need to be capable of monitor, asses and modify their learning through their own process of metacognition, this way they can develop the required knowledge and improve their learning.

This paper reviews Vietnam’s implementation of fiscal policies in response to climate change. The impact of tax and fee policies on greenhouse gas emission reduction is insignificant. Public spending on climate change adaptation primarily focuses on infrastructure projects to enhance resilience capacity, while the budget for mitigation activities only constitutes a small proportion.

This research uses the difference-in-difference (DID) which is adapted to continuous treatment method to analyze the impact of village funds on the work of rural communities. The analysis uses "repeated" cross section data from SUSENAS 2012-2017. We found that an increase in village fund per capita was more likely to raise the labor hours in agriculture and service industries, primarily on non-Java islands.

In ebook "Advances in cancer stem cell biology" tumor-maintaining cells or cancer stem-like cells are a subpopulation of cancer cells that acquired some of the characteristics of stem cells to survive and adapt to ever-changing environments. These include the ability to self-renew and the capacity to produce progenitors that differentiate into other cell types.

In ebook "Precision in crop farming - Site specific concepts and sensing methods: Applications and results" high yields and environmental control in crop farming call for precise adaptations to local growing conditions. Treating large fields in a uniform way by high capacity machinery cannot be regarded as a sustainable method for many situations. Because differences existing within single fields must be considered.

Ebook "Applied ecology and human dimensions in biological conservation" provides both the conceptual basis and technological tools that are necessary to identify and solve problems related to biodiversity governance. The authors discuss intriguing evolutionary questions, which involve the sometimes surprising adaptive capacity of certain organisms to dwell in altered and/or changing environments that apparently lost most of their structure and functionality.

Ebook "Managing protected areas in Central and Eastern Europe under climate change" addresses the need for sharing knowledge and experience in the field of biodiversity conservation and climate change. There is an urgent need to build capacity in protected areas to monitor, assess, manage and report the effects of climate change and their interaction with other pressures. The contributors identify barriers to the adaptation of conservation management, such as the mismatch between planning reality and the decision context at site level.

Ultra-hypofractionated image-guided stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is increasingly used for definitive treatment of localized prostate cancer. Magnetic resonance imaging-guided radiotherapy (MRgRT) facilitates improved visualization, real-time tracking of targets and/or organs-at-risk (OAR), and capacity for adaptive planning which may translate to improved targeting and reduced toxicity to surrounding tissues.

Estimating punching shear capacity (PSC) of steel fibre reinforced concrete slabs (SFRCS) is a crucial task in structural design. This study investigates the performances of artificial neural networks trained by the adaptive moment estimation (Adam) method in dealing with the task of interest. To alleviate overfitting problem, decoupled weight decay (AdamW) and L2 regularization (AdamL2) are used. A dataset including 140 samples has been used to train and verify the machine learning approaches.

Agriculture has become an extremely vulnerable industry to the impacts of climate variability and change. Thus, strengthening adaptation capacity to climate change in agriculture is a societal priority in most of countries in the world, especially in the developing countries where a large number of people depended on agricultural production.

Today’s acute hospital care is poorly adapted to the complex needs of frail older people. This exposes them to avoidable risks, such as loss of functional capacities, leading to unnecessary health and social care needs. Being frail and in need of acute hospital care often leads to higher dependence in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), especially if one’s needs are not acknowledged.
