Maximum yield is achieved at optimum plant density which depends upon environmental condition, cropping system and cultivar (Bridge et al., 1973; El-Shinnawy and Ghaly, 1985; Halemani and Hallikeri, 2002). However, farmers are adopting various plant geometries with wider row spacings as well as closer plant spacings. As Bt cotton cultivation has resulted in early setting of bolls, ultimately it requires more nutrients. The present study was carried out to know the effect of spacing and fertility levels growth and yield of Bt cotton.

The research study was conducted on impact of training programme on knowledge, perception and attitude of stakeholders towards Bhoochetana programme. The Raichur, Koppal and Bellary districts were purposively selected based on their maximum area under cotton cultivation. The random sampling procedure is being used to identify 180 beneficeries. The ex-post –facto research design is used for the study.

Cotton occupies sizeable area in India including Maharashtra which is progressively increasing with creation of irrigation amenities. Farmers adopting furrow irrigation causes percolation, nutrient leaching and volatilization at one end and unproductive loss of ground or surface water on the other end. Therefore, experiments were conducted during Kharif season of 2015-2016 to evaluate nutrient availability in Bt cotton by using drip fertigation under different phosphorous sources.

Biometric analysis was taken up to assess the combining ability of set of Bt cotton parents to harness high yield under contrasting planting densities through heterosis breeding. Twenty test crosses were generated out of Line (5) X Tester (4) mating design involving selected parents with diverse plant architecture.

Soil test crop response based fertilizer equations for Bt cotton under rainfed situation in Vertisol
Field experiments were conducted on a Typic Haplustert of Tamil Nadu by adopting the inductive cum targeted yield model developed for Bt cotton under rainfed situation. The basic parameters viz., NR, Cs, Cf and contribution of nutrients from FYM were computed from the field experimental data developed in the previous cropping season. Using these basic parameters, fertilizer prescription equations were developed under the Integrated Plant Nutrition System (IPNS) and nomograms were formulated for the desired yield target of Bt cotton for a range of soil test values.

The experiment was carried out during kharif 2014 at College of Agriculture, Indore under All India Coordinated Cotton Improvement Project in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with eight treatments and three replications on Bt cotton hybrid NCS 927, sown on 27th July with 0.6x0.6 m spacing. The recommended agronomical practices were adopted properly. Each treatment was prepared for alternate use of two insecticides during six sprays. The spraying was done at 10 days interval with 500 litre water per hectare, sprayed by knapsack sprayer fitted with a duromist nozzle.
