Adoption of improved cultivation practices

The present study reports strategies to overcome constraints in adoption of improved paddy cultivation practices and it was conducted in Navsari and Surat districts of South Gujarat in the year 2014-2016 with 100 respondent paddy growers, strategies were developed by prior identification of constraints and suggestions from respondent paddy growers and experts opinion.

The aforementioned study was conducted in Navsari and Surat districts of South Gujarat during the year 2014-2016. The primary data was collected from 100 respondents by personal interview method using structure interview schedule. After the analysis of the data, it was observed that, majority of the paddy growers (85.00 %) belonged to medium level of overall technological gap category. 75.00 per cent gap was found in adoption of recommended herbicide in transplanted field and least gap (24.00 %) was found in case of adoption of recommended variety.

The study was conducted in Hassan District where Vocational training programmes on Integrated Crop Management (ICM) in Coconut and use of coconut tree climbing machine were conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kandali, Hassan. These programmes were evaluated to assess their impact on the knowledge and extent of adoption of improved cultivation practices of coconut by the trainees. The data was collected from randomly selected 129 farmers who participated in the training programme conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hassan.

Farmers had a medium level of adoption about improved practices of black gram cultivation in the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Majority (82.5%) of the respondent adopted the recommended varieties and (73.33%) of the respondent had adopted the recommended control measures of disease and insect pest, while in case of recommended manure and fertilizer application, (79.16%) of the respondent had adopted FYM application and (66.66%) percent respondent had adopted the recommended chemical fertilizer application, and cultural practices cent percent of the respondent had adopted them.

The present study was conducted in the three blocks, namely Turenar, Tahkapal and bastanar block of Bastar district. The present study was undertaken in year 2014 and 2015 to study the factors affecting adoption of Maize cultivation practices in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. There were 160 Gram panchayats, 385 villages and 4 towns viz. Rajouri, Thanamandi, Nowshera and Sunderbani. The district constitutes 8.81 percent of the geographical area of the state.
