The transition of patients between care contexts poses patient safety risks. Discharges to home from inpatient care can be associated with adverse patient outcomes. Quality in discharge processes is essential in ensuring safe transitions for patients.

Veterans who need post-acute home health care (HHC) are at risk for adverse outcomes and unmet social needs. Veterans’ social needs could be identified and met by community-based HHC clinicians due to their unique perspective from the home environment, acuity of Veterans they serve, and access to Veterans receiving community care.

At the dawn of the twentieth century, the medical care of mothers and children was largely relegated to family members and informally trained birth attendants. As the industrial era progressed, early and key public health observations among women and children linked the persistence of adverse health outcomes to poverty and poor nutrition.

Epigenetic clocks can track both chronological age (cAge) and biological age (bAge). The latter is typically defined by physiological biomarkers and risk of adverse health outcomes, including all-cause mortality. As cohort sample sizes increase, estimates of cAge and bAge become more precise. Here, we aim to develop accurate epigenetic predictors of cAge and bAge, whilst improving our understanding of their epigenomic architecture.

The acute and chronic infections which are caused by Toxoplasma gondii, Rubella virus, Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV ) during pregnancy are often associated with adverse foetal outcomes and reproductive failures. This study aims at evaluating IgM, IgG antibodies for acute and chronic infection for more causes of abortion spreading that is Toxoplasma, Rubella, CMV, Chlamydia and Herpes Methods.

To estimate county-level associations between in utero exposure to threatened evictions and preterm birth in the United States. Higher exposure to eviction case filings within counties, particularly in the latter stages of a pregnancy, was associated with an increased risk of adverse birth outcomes.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a global health concern. Many antibiotics are no longer effective at treating MRSA, which causes an increase in adverse patient outcomes. This has led to calls for new antibiotics and treatment strategies to combat the spread of MRSA and multidrug resistance (MDR).

Early diagnosis and prompt antibiotic treatment are crucial to reducing morbidity and mortality of early-onset sepsis (EOS) in neonates. However, this strategy remains challenging due to non-specific clinical findings and limited facilities. Inappropriate antibiotics use is associated with ineffective therapy and adverse outcomes.

Considering the female preponderance of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and disease onset typically after the reproductive years, pregnancy and childbirth may play a role in the aetiology of the disease. Adverse outcomes of pregnancy have been found to precede the diagnosis of auto immune diseases, including RA, but the evidence is scant and inconsistent.

Unplanned or unintended pregnancies form a major public health concern because they are associated with unfavorable birth outcomes as well as social adversity, stress and depression among parents-to-be. Several risk factors for unplanned pregnancies in women have previously been identified, but studies usually take a unidi‑ mensional approach by focusing on only one or few factors, disregarding the possibility that predictors might cluster

The patient perspective on the use of screening for high risks of adverse health outcomes in Emergency Department (ED) care is underexposed, although it is an important perspective influencing implementation in routine care. This study explores the experiences with, and attitudes towards geriatric screening in routine ED care among older people who visited the ED.

Although it has been suggested that loneliness is a risk factor for adverse health outcomes, living arrangement may confound the association. This study aimed to investigate whether the associations of loneliness with adverse health outcomes differ in community-dwelling older adults according to different living arrangements.

Frail patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) face a higher risk of adverse out‑ comes, but there is no clear consensus on which frailty measures are most suitable for COPD patients. Herein we evaluated the ability of frailty measurements in predicting 1-year acute exacerbation, hospitalization, and mortality in older patients with COPD.
