  • Experiments were carried out to determine the insecticidal activity of Aegle marmelos Correa against Callosobruchus chinensis L. in the laboratory. Plants were extracted with petroleum ether, methanol, ethanol and water by using Soxhlet apparatus and tested against adult of C. chinensis.   • The methanol extract from leaves of Aegle marmelos was investigated to control insect infestation of stored food commodities viz. maize, rice, cowpea and wheat flour during from Ostrinia nubilalis, Spodoptera littoralis, Callosobruchus maculates and Tribolium confusum. After introducing the test insects, stored food samples were fumigated with methanol extract from leaves of Aegle marmelos at 500 μg/mL (ppm).   • Nine botanicals were evaluated for their antifungal activity against Fusarium solani causing root rot disease in Bael by employing poisoned food technique under laboratory conditions. The results indicated that all the botanicals inhibited the growth of the Fusarium solani as compared to control.   • The microbially enriched vermicompost was used as potting mixture for raising seedlings of aonla and bael. Seedlings showed significant increase in shoot and root length over the seedlings grown in unamended vermicompost.
