Aerial part

Pluchea pteropoda, an annual plant in the Asteraceae family, has traditionally been used in Vietnamese folk medicine as an alternative treatment for high fever, indigestion, and painful and swollen wounds. The present study investigates the acute toxicity and antiinflammatory effects of P. pteropoda aerial parts ethanol extract (EtPP) in animal models. EtPP exhibited no toxicity in mice with a single dose of up to 5000 mg/kg.

In this work, we report the isolation and structure characterization of four compounds from ethyl acetate extract of the aerial part of D. harmandii for the first time. Especially, the absolute configuration of dimer stilbene ampelopsin F was successfully established upon circular dichroism (ECD) data. Besides, the cytotoxic properties of these compounds was also investigated on the cancer cell lines.

The methanol extracts as well as some compounds from this plant exhibited anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant, hepatoprotective and anti-cancer effect, and antiosteoporotic. On going to search for bioactive components from the Vietnamese plant, this paper reported the isolation of seven phenolic compounds including one new from the aerial parts of A. ilicifolius. The cytotoxic activity of the isolates against two cancer cell lines (HepG2 and SK-LU1) were also screened and reported herein.

The first chemical investigation on Cardiospermum halicacabum L. growing in Vietnam led to the isolation and structural determination of nine flavonoid compounds, including quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucoside, quercetin 3-O-α-Lrhamnoside, quercetin, kaempferol 3-O-α-L-rhamnoside, kaempferol, apigenin 7-O-β-D-glucuronide butyl ester, apigenin 7-O-β-D-glucuronide methyl ester, apigenin, and luteolin.

wo germacranolide sesquiterpenes, 9β-acetoxy-3-epi-nobilium, zoapatanolide B and four benzoate ester derivatives, benzyl 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-6-methoxybenzoate, benzyl 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-6- hydroxybenzoate, methyl 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosylbenzoate, ficuside G were isolated from aerial part of Sigesbeckia orientalis. Structural elucidation of the isolated compounds was done using a combination of HR-ESI-MS, one-dimensional and two-dimensional NMR spectral methods, and comparison their spectral data with the previous literature.

The present experiment is aimed to evaluate the hepatoprotective effects of purslane (PuE) and fig leaves (FlE) extracts on diclofenac-sodium (DS) induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Three flavones (1-3) were isolated from the aerial part of Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray growing in Hoa Binh province, Vietnam. Their structures were identified as hispidulin (1), nepetin (2) and luteotin (3) by analysis of these spectroscopic MS, NMR data and comparison with reported data.
