Aerobic denitrification

Ebook "Endospore-forming soil bacteria" following chapters that describe the current classification of these organisms, that review methods for their detection and for studying their life cycles in soils, and that examine their dispersal, other chapters show that they are active and dynamic members of soil floras that interact widely with other soil inhabitants, with roles in nitrogen fixation, denitrification, and soil remediation.

This study, therefore, aimed to investigate the application of biochar from agricultural wastes to remove the excess nitrogen in domestic wastewater. In particular, this work examined the utilization of biochar obtained from coffee husk pyrolyzed at 350 oC to adsorb ammonium. Besides, adding biochar could be a simple and effective method for the initiation of activated sludge granulation to facilitate the treatment of low C/N ratio wastewater.

Denitrification is generally considered an anaerobic process. However, in recent years it has been shown that bacteria can also reduce nitrate to nitrite under aerobic conditions. The characterization of biologically available nitrogen forms and their biological cycling mechanisms is important for ecological and agricultural implications. In this study, aerobic nitrate reducers were isolated from greenhouse soil.
