Contamination of feed materials with aflatoxins is an important issue due to both acute and chronic intoxication in animals and also harmful to humans. In the present study, 25 formulated cattle feed samples of different sources were collected from Tamil Nadu and analysed for moisture content, storage mycoflora including aflatoxigenic A. flavus and aflatoxin B1.

Aflatoxins are toxins produced by moulds in food commodities both before and after harvest. After harvest of the produce, if the chilli fruits are not properly dried, it leads to mouldy growth and subsequent aflatoxin production.
