  • This work reports the surface modification of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers by graft copolymerization to ensure the decoration of homogenous and dense Ag nanoparticles. Two facile and subsequent modification processes resulted in a PAN fiber composite with an intact fibrous structure, sufficiently conductive for antistatic application and antibacterial activity.   • The Monte Carlo N-Particle code (MCNP4C2 version) has been modified for atomic relaxation in both source code and library to simulate XRF spectra for different measurement configurations. The modified code was then used to simulate XRF spectra of six metal samples: Ni, Cu, Zn, Pd, Ag, Au, and Au alloys on an XRF spectrometer.   • In this work, silver nanocatalyst loaded on vanadium phosphorus oxide (Ag/VPO) for oxidation of styrene to benzaldehyde was synthesized by method including impregnating of VPO substrate with colloid solution of Ag nanoparticles (NPs). VPO substrate was prepared by microwave-assisted reaction of vanadium and phosphorus precursors. Meanwhile, Ag/PVP NPs with the size of 7.5 nm and spherical shape, determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), were prepared in solution using NaBH4 as reducing agent and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as protecting agent.

  • A versatile technique was implemented for the synthesis of silver nanoparticle using aqueous extract of leaves of Gymnema sylvestre. The reduction of silver nitrate to silver nanoparticle was confirmed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer showing a typical resonance (SPR) at about 390nm which is specific for ag NPs. In FT-IR analysis the strong band peak at 3355cm-1 in aqueous extract is vibration bands, which may be due to overlapping of amine N- H stretching bands.

  • A green and simple approach has been successfully developed to synthesize chitosan/Ag nanocomposites using kumquat extract as a biological reducing agent. It indicates to be an ecofriendly and green method for the synthesis providing a cost effective and an efficient route for the chitosan/Ag nanocomposites’ synthesis. The prepared chitosan/Ag nanocomposites have been characterized by UV-vis, TEM, FTIR, and XRD. Result showed those chitosan/Ag nanocomposites have been obtained with average particle size ~15-25 nm.

  • This paper reports an investigation of the microwave-assisted synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using extract of stinky bean (Parkia speciosa Hassk) pods (BP). The formation of Ag NPs was identified by instrumental analysis consists of UV–vis spectrophotometry, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and particle size analysis.   • The TiO2 nanotubes were fabricated by the hydrothermal method. Then, Ag nanoparticles with the varying ratio were attached on the TiO2 nanotubes by photoreduction. The characteristics of structure, morphology, chemical composition and of TiO2 nanotubes modified Ag (Ag-TNTs) was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and the absorption spectral of Methylene blue (MB) solution.
