Ebook "Tropical agroforestry" strives to provide up-to-date information on tropical agroforestry to serve as educational material in the tropical context. The authoritative textbook of Nair (1993) on agroforestry was published 18 years ago, and before the advent of tree domestication, an important agroforestry practice today. In addition, many other research activities, such as carbon sequestration and integrated pest management, have been included in the agroforestry agenda.

The paper "Developing agroforestry production for sustainable poverty reduction and hunger eradication in the northern midland and mountainous region of Vietnam" also analysed relevant factors to highlight the opportunities to promote sustainable agriculture production. Based on that, suitable recommendations were also made to take the advantages and eliminate the drawbacks in order to promote the sustainable agroforestry production. In which, diversification of cropping, application of future smart foods, and improvement of supporting policy are highly potential solutions.

In this study, the essential oil from the leaves of bael tree was extracted and added as an additional income to the farmers along with its fruits, timber, fodder and other domestic usages. The essential oil yield from the leaves of bael tree was obtained by hydro-distillation. A socio-economic survey in the Bisht Village and Kirsali village of district Dehradun, Uttarakhnad was conducted and the existing role of bael tree in rural agroforestry and economy was also assessed.

In the present study, a considerable build up in soil organic carbon under tree canopy as compared to open canopy was found and soil organic carbon under tree canopy decreased with an increase in soil depth and increasing canopy distance. The total nitrogen percentage in soil decreased with an increase in depth and canopy. In case of available soil phosphorus, it decreased under the tree canopy with increasing soil depth and canopy distance.

The study applied the soil, land and topographic data for analyzing the potentiality of land for trees /crops suitability in the Gumla district of Jharkhand, India. The remote sensing, GIS and GIS modeling techniques were used to achieve the goal. The soil fertility, soil wetness, and slope map are scientifically produced and integrated to find out the landscape suitable categories for prioritization of trees/crops scaling in the agroforestry domain. Additionally, we have examined the drift of loss of soil wetness using satellite data from monsoon to postmonsoon period up to the village level.

The most valuable timber of the world i.e. teak (king of timber) was widely used due to its durability, physical and aesthetic property. It has a high demand in international market and distributed throughout India and Southeast Asia. In addition, there are huge gap between demand and supply of industrial timber in India. This can be fulfilled by the teak plantation with agroforestry systems.
