In this study 140 samples were collected from various parts of Jammu. Out of 140 samples 44 (31.42%) samples showed characteristic peacock blue colored colonies on selective PEMBA.

  • The present study was aimed to construct, develop and standardize a Knowledge Scale on Hygiene. After going through several related literature, the researcher outlined a scale and after analyzing, the content framed 90 items related to the course. The prepared 90 items were revised and edited carefully and then given to a panel of experts in the field of health, hygiene and extension specialist for their valuable suggestions and corrections to ensure its quality. Thus the content validity of the tool was established. After seeking the opinion of the experts some of the items were reframed.

The Jigsaw approach, a model of co-operative learning, focuses on learning in groups with fellow learner co-operation and reassures team work.   • The paper deals with observing the behaviour of concrete composites with addition of fibres under ambient and elevated temperature with the aim to determine the mechanical properties of materials. The experimental tests were conducted on three selected concrete composites which differ in a type and content of fibrous reinforcement used. The experimental work carried out was divided into several phases. First of all it was necessary to leave the produced specimens aging and drying in order to minimize the risk of unexpected damage caused by concrete spalling during heating.

  • The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between nitric oxide (NO) concentration/rate in the unstimulated whole saliva (UWS) and stimulated whole saliva (SWS) with the decay-missing-filled teeth (DMFT) and simplified oral hygiene (OHI-s) scores. Forty adults were included in the study. Half of the participants (n = 20) had high DMFT-OHI-s compared to the other half. UWS and SWS flow rates, initial and final pHs were also measured.

  • Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) frequently occur in society and may occur at home. The ultimate prognosis of an avulsed tooth occurring in a child may depend on the parents’ knowledge of appropriate emergency measures. Therefore this study aimed at evaluating the knowledge level of a sample of Egyptian parents in the management of a case of tooth avulsion in a child. A total of 985 parents attending a Pediatric Dental Clinic formed the sample of the study. A questionnaire comprising 13 questions in simple Arabic language was used.

  • The present study aims at evaluating the efficacy of two rapid tools, IgM dot ELISA and Latex Agglutination Test employing recombinant LipL32 as antigen in diagnosing acute leptospirosis in dogs in Kerala, a disease endemic area. One hundred and five serum samples were collected from dogs presented at Veterinary Hospitals attached to Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University during the period from September 2014 to May 2016.   • The present study aimed at assessing levels of reproductive health knowledge of rural mothers. Reproductive health covers various aspects such as family planning, STD, AIDS, infant mortality, contraceptives, antenatal care etc. The sample consisted of 300 rural mothers, from Hisar district of Haryana state, having children below 5 years of age. The knowledge was assessed using Reproductive Health Knowledge Checklist developed under All India Coordinated Research Project, ICAR. The checklist categorized the knowledge levels as low, average and high.

  • The present study was undertaken on 1070 children (571 boys and 499 girls) of secondary and senior secondary schools of Hisar district of Haryana state. The study was conducted with all children enrolled in classes 6th to 10th from six selected schools (three schools from urban area and three schools from rural area i.e. Ladwa). This exploratory and crosssectional study aimed to identify the extent of bullying, victimization and fighting behaviour in a group of children and analyze the data regarding the gender of those involved in bullying, victimization and fighting behaviour.

  • The study on emotional health of science and agriculture undergraduate students was aimed to understand their emotional health status. Study was conducted in Dharwad district of Karnataka state, sample comprised of 300 science undergraduates and 351 Agriculture undergraduate students, in the age range of 19 to 23 years. About 40 per cent of the samples were boys and 60 per cent were girls. The Emotional Health Scale (EHS) by Angadi, A. S. (2011) and general information schedule were used for collecting data. The data was subjected to frequency distribution, and t test analysis.

  • Canine parvoviral enteritis (CPVE) is a serious disease of dogs of less than six months age group. This disease is caused by canine parvovirus 2, 2a, 2b and 2c subtypes of CPV.Diagnosis and therapeutic management of CPVE affected dogs are usually based on clinical diagnosis. This study aims the applicability of haemagglutination test in diagnosis of CPV infection. A total of 110 faecal swabs of dogs suspected for CPVE were collected and subjected to haemagglutination (HA) test using porcine red blood cells. Thirty two samples (29.0 %) were positive to CPV infection by HA.

  • Impetigo continues to be an important paediatric skin infection. Staphylococcus aureus is the commonest bacteria associated with Impetigo. Drug resistance particularly to first line oral antibiotics is alarmingly high in Staphylococcus aureus. This study aims to find the bacterial isolates causing impetigo and their susceptibility pattern to drugs particularly Mupirocin. This prospective study was done in patients presenting with impetigo to the dermatology OP of a tertiary care hospital for the period of six months from May 2017 to October 2017.
