  • The study aims to evaluate the efficiency of SLFs on the biomass production, biochemical and physiological processes; and the study was carried out at different SLF concentrations of selected seaweeds i.e. Kappaphycus alvarezii, Gelidiella acerosa and Turbinaria ornata. The comparative analysis of the growth performance of two unicellular green alga on three different organic media suggest that the liquid fertilizer from red seaweed was highly efficient than the SLF prepared from brown seaweed.

  • Cultivation technology of Chlorella vulgaris shows great potential in wastewater treatment along with biomass collection for biofuel production. Suspended, autotrophic cultivation at various scales is still the main method to increase algal biomass in different stages of algae technology. In this study, C. vulgaris was cultured to proliferate in a 2 l suspension system to prepare biomass for immobilised cultivation in a biofilm photobioreactor.

  • The aim of this study was to recover CO2 greenhouse gas from flue gas of rubber latex dryer by absorption in the bubble tower with water and a solution containing NaCl content, equivalent to Zarrouk medium. Adsorbed CO2 could be converted to HCO3 − at appropriate pH conditions, used as a medium for cultivation of Spirulina platensis (S. platensis) algae to collect biomass and, furthermore, released oxygen which contributes to reducing climate change.

  • Shewanella algae is an emerging pathogen with an increasing rate of association in clinical samples worldwide. Exposure to marine and brackish waters has frequently been linked to human infection. The present study has examined the prevalence of the bacterium in shrimp which is a brackish water crop. The bacterium was isolated from about 8% of the shrimps’ samples cultured and sold in different parts of West Bengal, India. The isolates produced hemolysin and were thus considered virulent. An increase in the occurrence of human infections caused by S.

The experiment was laid out on growth of Blue Green Algae isolated from the rice field soil. The effect of culture medium on Blue Green Algae was recorded by using six different medium Viz. Modified Bristol’s Medium, Fogg’s Medium, BG-11 Medium, Pringsheim’s Medium, Allen and Arnon Medium and Chu’s 10 Medium. All the culture medium supported better growth of BGA.

  • The algae are one among the biomass energy source which can be promising. The microalgae are the diverse organisms which can inhabit in different climatic conditions and adapt themselves and perpetuate forming their own niche. There is need to improve the local flora for biomass and lipid content instead of culturing exotic species. Chlorella the green microalgae, was isolated from fresh water and was characterized through molecular studies using 18s rRNA homology. The study has revealed that isolated species belong to Chlorophytes (green microalgae).

  • Nitrogen (N) and sulphur (S), being essential macronutrients, have important roles in microalgae metabolism. Effects of N- or S -shortage were investigated in the green microalgae Chlorella s o-rokiniana subjected to 24 h of starvation, by measuring the glutamine synthetase (GS) and O-ace - tylserine(thiol)lyase (OASTL) activities, p roteins and amino acids levels. To test possible met a-bolic impact related to carbon (C) metabolism in response to N- or S -deprivation, starch and total C, N and S contents were also determin ed. The growth of C.
