This research aims to describe secondary school students' functional thinking in generating patterns in learning algebra, particularly in solving mathematical word problems. In addressing this aim, a phenomenological approach was conducted to investigate the meaning of functional relationships provided by students.

The paper shows that the response of the random Rayleigh system, which is under harmonic and random excitations, can be found by a system of algebraic equations. The analytical approach is based on the stochastic averaging method and equivalent linearization method in Cartesian coordinates so that the Fokker-Planck equation associated with the linear equations obtained can be solved exactly by the technique of auxiliary function. The harmonic excitation frequency is taken to be in the neighborhood of the system natural frequency.

In this paper, we design a controller based on hedge algebras for serial robots. The control rule is given by the linguistic rule-based system. The goal is to accurately control the moving robot arm which adheres given trajectories. Optimization of fuzzy parameters for the controller is done by genetic algorithms. The system has been simulated on the Matlab-Simulink software. The simulation results show that the tracking error is very small. Moreover, the controller worked well with correct control quality.
