The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of 3 new polymers obtained by functionalization of a commercial poly(vinyl chloride) by grafting amino-alkyl and amino-aryl groups to extract some metal cations from aqueous solutions. A kinetic study of the extraction shows that the optimal duration of extraction was obtained with the polymer that has more chlorine atoms substituted by diethylenetriamine groups. The influence of metal extraction on the infrared spectra, differential scanning calorimetry diagrams, and X-ray diffraction of metal-loaded polymers was also studied.

Four metallo (zinc, copper, vanadyl, and indium) phthalocyanine derivatives bearing four aliphatic (hexylthio) groups were prepared from corresponding phthalonitrile compounds. The metallophthalocyanines were characterized with ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and mass and elemental analyses techniques. Aggregation properties of metallophthalocyanines in solution were studied in varied concentration ranges. Thin films of metallophthalocyanines were obtained by spin coating technique.

Aliphatic nitroalkanes with different functional groups were synthesized from the Michael addition reactions of active methylene compounds 2 and nitrovinyl arenes 1 in high yields. The synthesized Michael adducts were subjected to intramolecular cyclization to give heteroaryl substituted γ -lactams in good to high yields under mild reaction conditions.

The solvent extraction is one of the most common method for separating Th from solution. Primary amine has higher selectivity for the extraction of Th(IV) than U(VI) and RE(III) in sulfate media. N1923 (a primary aliphatic amine with amino nitrogen linked to a secondary carbon consisting of branched alkyl groups in C19–23 range) is commonly used to extractTh.

the synthesis chapters cover many ways of making each type of molecule starting with simple aromatic and aliphatic compounds with one functional group and progressing to molecules with many functional groups. the strategy chapters cover questions of selectivity, protection, stereochemistry, and develop more advanced thinking via reagents specifically designed for difficult problems.

In continuation of our reports on the chemical constituents of Croton tonkinensis Gagnep. (Euphorbiaceae) [1] this paper deals with the isolation and structure elucidation of two long chain alkyl alcohols. Two compounds 1 and 2 were isolated by repeated silica gel column chromatography of the n-hexane soluble fraction obtained from the methanol extract of the dried leaves of C. tonkinensis by liquid - liquid fractionation [2]. The long aliphatic chains of both compounds 1 and 2 were characterized by the 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra: H 0.88 (3H, t, J = 6.6 Hz), C 14.

Introduction: The petroleum fuels are a group of hydrocarbons refined and modified from the crude oil, and include more than 100 kinds of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. They are roughly classified into petroleum gas, gasoline, kerosene, light oil, heavy oil and others [1]. This chapter deals with analysis of hydrocarbons of C3–C16 being included in automobile gasoline, purified kerosene (No.1 kerosene), automobile light oil for a diesel engine and liquefied petroleum (LP) gas. The petroleum oils, such as gasoline and kerosene, are frequently detected from specimens in fire cases.
