The alkaline lake Lonar is situated in buldhana District of Maharashtra, India. The lake is around 50-60 thousand years old and water is alkaline (pH 10.36). It is the third largest meteorite crater in basaltic rock in the world, with a diameter of 1,800 m. While Lake Bosmatvi in Ghana, has a diameter of 10,000 m and lake New Quebec in Canada with a diameter of 3,500 m.

High-grade rock phosphate (P2O5>30%) is essential for manufacturing P fertilizers. only 39% is of high grade which could meet hardly 35-40% of the demand of P fertilizers (Indian Bureau of Mines 2014). In India, there is a predominance of low grade rock phosphate reserves and out of 260 million ton only 15.3 million ton is of high grade quality. The consumption of apatite and rock phosphate in 2011-12 was about 3.96 million tonne. Rock phosphate is usually inert in alkaline and calcareous soils.

Major, trace element, K -Ar age and Sr-Nd isotopic data are presented for the Eocene Torul volcanics in the eastern Pontide orogenic belt (NE Turkey). The studied rocks are composed of basaltic andesitic, andesitic, trachyandesitic, and minor trachydacitic lavas associated with their pyroclastics.

The Biga Peninsula, in the north-western part of Western Anatolia, is part of the Sakarya Zone of the Western Pontides and the tectonically overlying Ezine group. The basement rocks are intruded by the early Miocene Kestanbol Pluton and early to middle Miocene calc-alkaline to shoshonitic-ultrapotassic volcanic successions related to postcollisional continental extension.

The Miocene Kestanbol granitoid, in Ezine-Çanakkale, Turkey, is one of post-collision granitoids of western Anatolia, which have been related to the the late Cretaceous collision between the Anatolide-Tauride platform and the Pontides. Magmatism began during the early Miocene, with coeval alkaline to calc-alkaline plutonism and volcanism, controlled by the regional tectonic evolution.

Felsic intrusive rocks within the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex provide a window into the geodynamic processes in operation during the final closure of the Neotethys Ocean. Previous studies were largely restricted to the calc-alkaline granitoids, and the structural and petrogenetic relations of syenitoids are poorly studied.

In terms of whole-rock geochemical analyses and in agreement with the petrographic features, all representative samples of the Shurab area are classified into three groups: group 1 with mainly intergranular texture comprises basalt/trachybasalt, while groups 2 and 3 with trachytic and porphyritic textures, respectively, have basaltic trachyandesite composition.

The data were interpreted for source geochemical characteristics and geodynamic processes of the lithospheric mantle beneath the region. The peridotite xenoliths being mostly spinel-lherzolites in composition, are residual entities having been produced following partial melting events of ultramafic rocks in the asthenosphere. They are depleted in trace element abundance and Sr-Nd isotopic composition. Some are even more depleted as compared to mid-ocean ridge mantle xenoliths.
