Hierarchical zeolites containing ruthenium oxide nanoparticles were applied in the reaction of dihydroxyacetone isomerization to alkyl lactates and lactic acid. The synthesis of these materials was performed by dispersing the specified amount of two microporous zeolites (HFAU and NaBEA) withan ultrasound bath for 30 min, in a mixture containing cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, water, ethanol and ammonia.

NHC–Pd(II) complexes bearing a chiral oxazoline ligand (IIIa–f) were synthesized by cleavage of dimeric palladium complexes with the oxazoline ligand. They were fully characterized by 1 H and 13 C NMR and elemental analyses. The catalytic activity of the complexes (IIIa–f) in allylic alkylation reactions was evaluated. The complex IIIa was found to be the most active catalyst. Very low ee values indicate that the oxazoline is dissociated from the active catalytic species.

Seven novel 1,3-dialkyl-4-methylimidazolinium chloride salts 3a–g were prepared as precursors of N-heterocyclic carbenes by reacting N,N’-alkyl-1,2-diaminopropane, triethyl orthoformate, and ammonium chloride. The salts were characterized spectroscopically. The in situ prepared palladium complexes derived from the imidazolinium salts and palladium acetate were used as catalyst in Heck coupling reactions between aryl bromides and styrene. The corresponding Heck products were obtained in good yields.

This study reports the design, synthesis, and calcium channel modulatory activity evaluation of a series of 14 novel fused 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives. The molecular design of the compounds was based on modifications of nifedipine, which is a calcium channel blocker. The compounds were achieved by one-pot microwave-assisted reaction of 4,4-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione, 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde/3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde, an appropriate alkyl acetoacetate, and ammonium acetate in ethanol according to a modified Hantzsch reaction.

The novel ruthenium(II) complexes [RuCl2(NHC)(p-cymene)], 3a–e, containing 1-alkyl-3-benzylimidazol2-ylidene ligands were prepared. All synthesized compounds were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. Ru(II)-NHC complexes were tested as catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone, showing modest to high activity in this reaction. The results revealed that efficiencies depend on the substituents of the benzene ring of the benzyl on the N atom of the NHC ring.

A highly dispersible and magnetically recoverable Cu-PEI@Fe 3 O4 MNPs catalyst was prepared and successfully applied in one-pot three-component coupling of terminal alkynes, sodium azide, and alkyl bromides/chlorides in water to give 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles with good to excellent yields. The catalyst was fully characterized with FT-IR, TGA, TEM, SEM, VSM, EDX, cyclic voltammetry, and ICP-AES spectroscopic techniques.

Novel compounds based on the 1,2,4-triazole skeleton were synthesized. A class of 4-amino-5-alkyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3- thione created by reaction of thiocarbohydrazide with long-chain aliphatic carboxylic acids, and then the Schiff bases were obtained in the media of heat and microwave waves, in the presence and the absence of a catalyst. Their chemical structures were assayed by elemental analysis, also device spectroscopic methods.

A series of novel 2,5-dioxopyrrolidines were synthesized by the one-pot reaction of coumarin-3-carboxylic acids 1 with thiourea derivatives and alkyl isocyanides in the presence of Fe 3 O4 NPs @ lipase as heterogeneous reusable nanobiocatalysts with high yields. Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) are useful tools for the efficient synthesis of heterocyclic compounds due to their environmental friendliness, atomic economy, and green specifications.

An efficient synthetic route has been described for the alkylation of 1H -indole, 1H -benzimidazole, and 1H -benzotriazole. This approach features the alkylation of heteroaromatics through in situ generated enones from ketonic Mannich bases under metal-free conditions. A series of alkylated heteroaromatics have been synthesized via the K10 catalyzed alkylation reactions of these heteroaromatics with a variety of ketonic Mannich bases.

An efficient and facile method has been developed for the synthesis of alkyl bromides from various alcohols under mild conditions using a triphenylphosphine (PPh3)/1,2-dibromotetrachloroethane (DBTCE) complex in excellent yields and very short time (5 min). This method can also be applied for the transformation of chiral alcohols to their corresponding bromides in very high enantiomeric excess. The PPh3 /DBTCE complex is also successfully applied to ring-opening reactions of cyclic ethers in mild conditions.

The aim of this study is to synthesize novel piperazine-containing dihydrofuran compounds (3a-n)from radical additions and cyclizations of diacyl and alkyl-acyl piperazine derivatives (1a-h) with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds (2a-c) mediated by Mn(OAc)3 for the first time. From the reactions of 1a-c with dimedone (2a);1a, 1c, and 1d with acetylacetone (2b); and 1a with ethylacetoacetate(2c) ,the dihydrofuran-piperazine compounds 3a-c, 3d-f, and 3g were obtained in medium to high yields (31%–81%), respectively.

[n.3.0]Bicycles (n = 3–6) can be synthesized using palladium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation followed by rutheniumcatalyzed cycloisomerization. New types of triarylphosphino-1,2-diaminooxazoline ligands show the same high levels of enantioselectivity observed with Trost ligand when employed in Pd-catalyzed allylic alkylation reactions. The enyne products of these allylic alkylation reactions were further elaborated using a Ru-catalyzed redox isomerization process, for which a mechanism is proposed.

The Urea-Hydrogen Peroxide complex (UHP) was synthesized from urea and hydrogen peroxide, characterized by FT-IR. This UHP complex could be employed as an oxidizing agent for metal-free oxidation reaction of disulfides to thiosulfinate compounds. This protocol was carried out under very mild conditions at 0oC in CH3CO2H solvent, was efficient and compatible with a range of alkyl, aryl or allyl disulfides to afford direct access to thiosulfinate compounds in very good yields up to 92% and high selectivities.
