Isolation and characterization of those substances from this plant may act as a tool for new natural, biodegradable herbicide development to control weeds. Thus, the objective of the present work aims to determine Ocimum extracts allelopathic potentiality and its possible use as a bio-herbicide to control weeds under field on horticulture plantation conditions.

The present study hypothesized that ruzigrass seed treatment and sowing density and period influence seed germination and seedling establishment and that physical and/or allelopathic effects of the leaves and petioles of soybean cultivars are a major factor for interseeding success. To test these hypotheses, the influences of seed treatment, sowing density, time, and soybean cultivar on the emergence of ruzigrass seedlings in a soybean interseeding system were evaluated with the aim of mitigating environmental effects in the establishment of forage in succession to soybean.

An investigation was carried out to evaluate the impact of the allelopathic effect of Alstonia scholaris leaf extract on morphoanatomical and physiological characteristics of 5 wheat lines. Three extract dilutions were prepared, viz. 0 (control), 15 and 30% of the aqueous extract and sprayed on wheat lines (3094, 5066, M5082, 7076 and A2011) at 15-day intervals until maturity from November 2017 to May 2018. All wheat lines responded differently to an allelochemical extract of A. scholaris.

The present study aims at evaluating the possible allelopathic potential of Moringa peregrine Forssk. on some growth attributes of two economically important food crops; Hordeum vulgare and Trigonellafoenum-graecum. The results indicate that Hordeumvulgareis more sensitive to Moringa peregrine leaves aqueous extract than Trigonellafoenum-graecum, and a concentration of 2.5% of that extract express the highest allelopathic effect on the degree of inhibition on seed germination of Hordeum vulgare.

Experiments were carried out to determine the possible allelopathic effects of jatropha (Jatropha curcas) on chilli (Capsicum annum) and green gram (Vigna radiata). Aqueous extract of jatropha leaf at 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% (W/V) concentrations were bio-assayed against germination and seedling growth of chilli and green gram. In both crops, germination percentage, germination index, plumule and radicle length, fresh and dry weight of plumule and radicle were appreciably reduced by aqueous extract of jatropha leaf in a concentration dependent manner.

Maize (zea mays l.) Is one of the most important crops among the cereals in the world agricultural economy both as food and fodder crop and is regarded as “queen of cereals”. Weeds can suppress crop growth and yield by effectively competing with crop for environmental resources like water, light, nutrients and production of allelopathic compounds. The weed flora differs widely with environment and soil conditions. Generally, weeds are found in larger numbers and with more vigour, because of their wider adaptability even under extremities of climatic, edaphic and biotic stresses.

The aqueous and organic extracts of the roots, stems, phyllodes, flowers, legumes, and seeds of Acacia cyanophylla Lindl. were assayed at different concentrations to assesstheir allelopathic potential. The extracts were tested on the seeds of 2 crops (Triticum aestivum L. and Lactuca sativa L.) and 2 weeds (Peganum harmala L. and Silybum marianum L.) species.
