These farmers need to access information about new technologies before they can consider adopting them and thus they look up to research and extension agents as sources of new technologies. Access to appropriate information and knowledge is an important factor for successful agricultural production.

The nationwide imposition of lockdown due to Covid-19 adversely affected various agriculture allied occupations especially livestock and poultry sector. For dairy farmers reduced price of milk, lack of transportation means and lack of veterinary aids were major problems faced during the lockdown. Poultry farmers incurred massive losses due to rumours associated with chicken which caused collapse in demand for poultry products. Top ranked problems faced by poultry farmers include reduced availability of improved breeds, price and sale of egg or meat.

Major part of Indian economy is contributed by agriculture and its allied sector. Around 56 per cent of population directly or indirectly depends upon agriculture. The GDP contribution of the agriculture and allied sector is 17.2 per cent, but this sector is facing many challenges to flourish. Out of these challenges lesser crop productivity and inefficient use of fertilizers are the main challenges faced by Indian farmers. Till now, fertilizer recommendations for different crops are made on the basis of agronomical practices and not on the soil test basis.

The present study was undertaken at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Banda, Uttar Pradesh where Jakhani village has been selected for doubling farmers income by 2022. A total of 50 respondents were selected randomly who were engaged in agriculture and allied activities. Data were collected through focus group discussion, Participatory Rural Appraisal and a semi-structured interview schedule. The problem identification technique was used to identify and prioritize the problems related to agriculture and allied sectors in the village.

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana is a State Plan Scheme of Additional Central Assistance launched in August 2007 as a part of the 11th Five Year Plan by the Government of India under National Development Council, to achieve 4% annual growth in agriculture through development of Agriculture and its allied sectors. A fund of Rs 4,09090/- was allocated to DAATTC, Ranga Reddy PJTSAU during 2012-2014 for organizing onfarm testing, Farmers training programmes and exposure visits. Farmers of Ranga Reddy District cultivate rice in a larger area as major food crop.
