Almond is known for its nutritive value and is popularly consumed in India after overnight soaking. It is rich in lipid profile, polyphenols content followed by vitamin-E and also found rich in minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium and phosphorus which play important biological roles in the human body. There are different types of almond varieties present in India which include commercial types and wild types. The present study aims at Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) characterisation of the four popular varieties of almond from Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh (India) viz.

Investigations were carried out on nine almond varieties/selections (three exotic and six indigenous) to study their nut and kernel quality planted at experiment farm of Dryland Agriculture Research Station (DARS), SKUAST-Kashmir. Maximum nut weight (2.24 and 2.19 g) and nut length (39.88 mm and 40.69 mm) was recorded in Primorskij during 1st and 2nd year of study, respectively, however nut breadth was maximum in Waris (20.42 mm and 20.17). Kernel weight was recorded highest Primorskij(1.29 g and 1.26 g) along with kernel length (28.62 mm and 29.

Since the plgms19 and STS-834b primers were found to be effective at high ratios in determining resistance to RKN in the Nemaguard × GF677 F1 population, the use of these markers could be included in breeding studies. It was also detected that the STS-OPS14a primer is appropriate to use for determining the sensitivity to RKN in almond rootstocks.
