Fruit rot of brinjal caused by Alternaria alternata is an important disease of eggplant inflicting heavy losses. The present investigation was carried out to test the efficacy of fungicides, botanicals and bio-agents in vitro. Among fungicides tested, tebuconazole, difenconazole showed 100 per cent mycelial inhibition of Alternaria alternata.

Chilli is one of the important spices and cultivated around the world for its peculiar hot taste. Chilli leafs prone to affect by Alternaria alternata (leaf spot). In order to overcome this problem, efforts have been made to evaluate the efficiency of the bio-control agent Trichoderma harzianum for controlling the leaf spot disease in chilli. Trichoderma harzianum was isolated from the field soil and identified through microscopic and recommended standard methods.

A laboratory experiment was conducted to study the efficacy of some botanicals against seed-borne fungi isolated from Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.). For the management of different mycoflora Effect of nine botanicals were evaluated agents Alternaria alternate, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger in vitro condition. Effect of nine botanicals viz. A. indica, O. sanctum, A. sativum, A. cepa, E. globules, L. camara, M. citrifolia, V. negundo and B. spectabilis were found antifungal to A. alternata, A. flavus and A. niger.

The present investigation was carried out in crop season of Rabi 2013 with the wheat variety of Pusa 402. Leaf blight of wheat is an important disease of wheat in northern and eastern region of India. Use of Fungicide and bioagent can be minimized by the integrated approach towards the management of plant diseases. Treatment of foliar spray with propiconazole @500 ml/ha was found best for reduce disease intensity, higher shoot length, root length, root weight, shoot weight, number of tiller, yield/ha.

Biological control represents an important approach to manage plant diseases. Blights of leaf, panicle and fruits caused by Alternaria alternata and the wilt caused by Fusarium solani are important diseases of litchi. Hence, as an alternative to chemical fungicides, biological control by Trichoderma spp. to manage pathogens of litchi was explored. The aim of this study was to isolate native Trichoderma spp. from litchi orchard ecosystem and to evaluate antagonistic potential and its biological fitness so as to develop a commercial formulation for field application to manage litchi diseases.

Cultivation of resistant genotypes seems to be the best alternative and most economical to keep the activity of the pathogens under control. Thirteen bottle gourd genotypes were evaluated against the leaf spot disease caused by Alternaria cucumerina and anthracnsoe under natural epiphytotic conditions.

In seeds of Isabgol, test of relative efficacy of four traditional seed dresser like tulsi leaf powder, mehandi leaves, turmeric powder and neem leaf powder revealed that neem leaf powder gave effective control of Alternaria alternate and Fusarium semitectum are followed by tulsi leaf powder and which resulted increased into germination even after 6 month storage as compared to control. Four oils like neem, mustard, castorl and palas oil were used for seed treatment and it was observed that the neem oil gave effective control even after six months of storage as compared to control.

Brinjal growers of Assam completely depend on the chemocentric cultivation practices to combat the crop diseases, which increases the cost of cultivation and affect the consumers with pesticides residues. Moreover, excessive use of a wide range of fungicides has resulted harmful effect to the environment and increased the resistant pathogen populations. Development of an alternative eco-friendly disease management module for sustainable crop production is the need of the hour.

Bio-controlling of potato foliar pathogens could be an alternative and eco-friendly management. Therefore, in this trial, the antagonistic potential of some bio-controlling agents (BCAs) of Trichoderma spp. (Trichoderma asperillum, Trichoderma longibrachiatum and Trichoderma harzianum) and Bacillus spp.
