As such, the study apparently sought to examine the adsorption of the proteinogenic amino acid (proline) on the bare surfaces of carbon boron nitride, boron nitride, and boron nitride doped with the aluminum element nanotubes. In accordant with the geometric optimization, different dispersion models: PBE0, ωB97XD, M06-2X, and B3LYP-D3(GD3BJ) were used; note that the latter is used only in wave function analysis studies.

In this paper, we present an experimental study on electroless nickel plating for applications in microbolometers. The study starts from an optimization of the electroless plating bath for depositing nickel on aluminum surface and ends up at the controlled growth of nickel micropillars on selected areas with the masking layer patterned by a conventional optical lithography process.

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is one of the world’s five major engineering plastics and is widely used in various fields. At present, the main catalysts used in the synthesis of PET are antimony, titanium, and aluminum metal compounds. Among them, antimony-based catalysts are poisonous and the titanium-based catalyst products are relatively yellow in hue. The research results show that when the molar content of catalyst is 0.05% and the reaction temperature is 280 ℃ for 150 min, the product obtained is relatively excellent.

This paper introduces a method for estimating the maximum depth (sub-millimeter) of minor cracks on the surface of aluminum plates used in the aeronautical industry. A set of C-scan eddy current (EC) images, including real and imaginary parts of the impedance, is analyzed to extract suitable features after reducing noise effects, such as background noises and edge noises.

The micro/nano surface structure of triboelectric layers possesses a critical impact on the performance of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG). Here, we present a solution for the enhancement of the triboelectric performance by utilizing a Q-switched Pulsed Laser (QSL) that directly writes on an Aluminum surface in the net configuration.

Superhydrophobic nanocomposite coatings for magnesium surfaces with remarkable corrosion resistance were fabricated by electrospinning in the presence of fluorosilane-functionalized silica (SiO2) nanoparticles. The effects of surface-modified silica (mod-SiO2) nanoparticles on the superhydrophobicity and corrosion resistance of polystyrene (PS)/mod-SiO2 fiber coatings were evaluated. The incorporation of the SiO2 nanoparticles endows PS fibers with rough surfaces exhibiting a water contact angle (WCA) of 165◦C.

This paper studied the relationship between the cutting force, surface roughness and chip shrinkage coefficient through the affect of cutting parameters, i.e., cutting speed, feed rate and uncut chip thickness. Experimental results of the chip shrinkage coefficient, cutting force and surface roughness at various cutting parameter values for high-speed milling of A6061 aluminum alloy were presented in this study. The results show that the cutting force and surface roughness can be derived based on the relationships with chip shrinkage coefficient.

This paper simulates an optical sensor utilizing a prism based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The simulations combine a layer of Au and an additional layer of different materials: aluminum arsenide (AlAs), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS), zinc oxide (ZnO), and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for SPR excitation. The simulations show that a sensor based on a combination of Au/PEDOT:PSS layers with thicknesses of 40 nm and 5 nm, respectively, offers a sensor sensitivity of 186.07°/RIU, which is 1.2 times better than that of a sensor using only a thin Au layer.

Based on the number of previous studies, this study aims to investigate the effects of process parameters of an Electrochemical Machining process which are electrolyte concentration, voltage applied to the machine, feed rate of the electrode and Inter-Electrode Gap between tool and work - piece. Aluminum samples of 25 mm diameter x 25 mm height and 30mm diameter x 25mm height of the tool is made up of copper with a circular cross section with 2 mm internal hole. The design of the system is based on the Taguchi method.

The process of developing the field of materials science is often driven by the discovery of new advanced materials. Especially, the material characteristics and uniformity of quantum mechanics are considered the most important. Of which, the topological insulator material with electrical insulation in the bulk but high conductivity on the surface has been extensively investigated as a new research direction in recent years due to its interesting properties that can be applied in spintronic applications.

A hybrid process combining the turning-burnishing operation is a prominent solution to improve productivity due to the reduction in the auxiliary time. The objective presents a parameter-based optimization of the compressed air-assisted turning-burnishing (CATB) process to enhance the Vickers hardness (HN) and decrease the roughness (SR). The inputs are the cutting speed (V), depth of cut (a), feed rate (f), and ball diameter (D). A turning machine was used in conjunction with the turning-burnishing device to perform the experimental runs for aluminum 6061.

The intention of the present study is to determine surface roughness (Ra) and MRR which are key responses to justify the quality of turning operation. Four process parameters have been selected viz. Nose radius (NR), depth of cut (DOC), feed rate (FR) and spindle speed or cutting speed (CS) that influences these responses.
